11 Things We Learned About PI’s Newest Contributors, Kaleidoscope!

Kaleidoscope-Band

PI! We’re so thrilled to welcome two of our newest contributors Natalie Brown and Cammie Avers! Combined they form the Christian power duo Kaleidoscope! Check out their latest music video here!

1. Your names, age and where you’re from.
Name: Natalie Brown
Age: 25
From: Grew up in Los Gatos, CA (close to San Francisco!) and currently live in Nashville, TN

Name: (Camaryn) Cammie Avers
Age: 26
From: Born in Detroit. Lived in Southlake, TX (Dallas suburb) from 1st grade on, and in a month I move to LA!

2. Your testimony in 140 words or less.
Natalie – I grew up in a Christian home and loved the Lord from a young age. I still have that same passion and excitement for Jesus that I did when I was a little girl!

Cammie – Grew up in a home that celebrated Christmas and Easter, but it wasn’t until 8th grade when a friend invited me to a church camp, that I knew about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. My life has never been the same!

3. Your favorite “God” moment.
Natalie – I don’t know if I can pinpoint just one “God moment” in my life (fun fact I have way too many favorites in life and can never just choose one!). However, many of these sweet moments happen for me during worship. There are moments when I am worshipping that I just feel overwhelmed by the Lord’s love for me. All I can do is get on my knees and thank Him over and over again for choosing me and calling me His beloved. Who am I to even deserve this?! Thank you Jesus!!

Cammie – I’m with Natalie, I have a lot of “God moments” and I try to find at least one every single day! But one of my all time favorites was at my wedding. We had a time of worship and in that moment I came to a deeper understanding of 1 John 4:19 (“we love because He first loved us…). I could feel God’s presence and His love for my husband and I in a way I had never felt! When God is the center of your love story it’s better than you could ever imagine!

4. Your favorite song of the moment.
Natalie – I am in love with the new Bethel Worship album! To choose just one song is extremely difficult, but one of my favorites is “You Don’t Miss a Thing”. I love the line that says, “what a mystery that You notice me. And in a crowd of 10,000, You don’t miss a thing.” This is so true about our God! He names and notices His children. We are loved, adored and cherished by our heavenly Father and that is something I never want to take for granted!

Cammie – There are a lot of little things that make Natalie and I best friends – and our taste in music is one of them! Not to be a copy-cat, but that is my favorite album right now too. We both have been listening to it non-stop since it came out! But, my favorite song on it is “Ever Be.” I love the simplicity of the chorus because over and over it just says, “Your praise will Ever Be on my lips, ever be on my lips.” Lately I’ve been so aware of the power of our words. As a girl it is too easy to fall into the temptation of using my words to tear down or gossip, but I want to be someone who uses my lips to praise God and speak life into those around me!

5. The one Netflix show you can’t help but binge on.
Natalie – Currently I am guilty of binging on the show “Gilmore Girls”! I never watched it growing up and felt like I had missed out on some fun memory that a lot of my friends had, so I am creating my own memory now as a 25 year old haha!

Cammie – The other day I binge watched “Saved By The Bell” for WAY too long. (Sorry I’m not sorry!) Zack Morris was my first crush, Kelly Kapowski was all I wanted to be, and those 90s outfits alone are entertaining for hours. I still have the theme song stuck in my head…

6. Your life verses.

Natalie – 1 John 3:16-18 “By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
2 Timothy 2:22 “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”

Cammie – Romans 8:17 “Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is with you. He is a mighty warrior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with singing.”

7. Most awkward youth group moment.
Natalie – I think my most dreaded youth group moments always happened when we were playing dodgeball. Why this is a fun youth group activity that we do constantly I will never understand! I am pretty sure at every single one of these events I was hit in the head and knocked to the ground making a complete spectacle of myself. After the third time of participating in this activity and making a fool of myself, I chose to be a cheerleader on the side lines from there on out!

Cammie – My most awkward youth group moment was actually when I was on staff as a youth ministry intern (no…awkward moments do not go away when you get older, haha!) We had an instance where I had to occupy 300 kids in a room and make sure they were “entertained” for an hour. So I had the brilliant idea of starting a rap battle…and while my free-style rapping skills are pretty good, I learned that I do not have an hours worth of material in my back pocket. I was funny for about 10 minutes…and then there was the other 50.

8. Favorite part of the PI community.
Natalie – I think my favorite part of this community is the freedom that you have when coming to this site. It is a safe place to share whatever is on your heart, whether that be a question or what you feel like the Lord is teaching you in this season. I love that it’s a diverse community full of young women with different stories and different upbringings. There is beauty in differences because it allows us to learn more from one another.

Cammie – My favorite part of Project Inspired is that it celebrates being a girl! As the oldest of three girls and one of the girliest-girls you’ll ever meet, I LOVE being a girl. I love watching, and helping, younger women become the person that God is calling them to be and to fulfill their God-given dreams. Where would this world be without girls living brightly and beautifully for The Lord?!

9. What makes you happiest.
Natalie – Being home in California with my family, walking on the beach, and baking delicious treats are three things that make me happy! If I am able to do all three at once, then I am basically in heaven!

Cammie – Leading worship! There is truly nothing else that compares to being in the presence of God and leading others their with me. Besides that, I love shopping, getting my nails done, reading, and going on walks with Natalie!

10. What inspires you.
Natalie – Creation inspires me daily. I am completely an outdoorsy kind of girl! Every time I am outside whether its hiking a mountaintop, walking on the beach, or even just running through my neighborhood I am always in awe of His beauty and creation. I am actually writing this while I fly over the west coast and as I looked down I saw a gorgeous landscape of mountains. These are the moments that take my breath away. God’s creation reminds me of how small I am, and yet He chose me to call daughter and chosen one!

Cammie – People inspire me. I am such a people person and I love hearing people’s stories, testimonies, and dreams. When I hear about God doing miracles and moving mightily in the lives of those around me, I’m so encouraged. I want to meet as many people as I can, and watch the way that God uses them to change the world!

11. What you’re most excited about sharing with the PI community.
Natalie – I am excited to share with you ladies that your story and your uniqueness are beautiful! Sometimes I think as young women we believe this lie that our story or what we have to offer the Kingdom is not good enough. We begin to compare ourselves to those around us and just don’t feel like we line up. But I want to break that lie and remind you that you have reason and purpose! That your story and what you bring to the table is not only important, but essential to the Kingdom! The Lord wants to use you for big things, all you have to do is be willing to say yes!

Cammie – I am excited to be an encourager to every reader. Growing up and being a girl can be tough! But God is good, life is good, and His unique plan for you is GOOD. In a world that can be dark I hope that our posts for Project Inspired can be a source!
