Becoming a “Modern-Day Princess”

MDP-BG-Top-1

The Modern Day Princess (MDP) Ministries was founded by Doreen Hanna, the author of Raising a Modern-Day Princess, endorsed by Focus on the Family. Hanna co-wrote the book with Pam Farrel, and it’s about helping to give “purpose, value, and strength to your daughter.” The book has sold more than 45,000 copies. Hanna started Treasured Celebration Ministries (which is the umbrella ministry, or mother ministry, of MDP) because she turned her “pain into power.” The author and founder of MDP felt neglected by her earthly father, and then when she married, she had more problems, but still faithfully raised her two precious daughters successfully in the midst of a difficult marriage.

Hanna is so inspirational, godly and passionate, and a testament that you don’t have to live in fear, rejection or brokenness. YOU too can change the world by being strong, brave and a “modern-day Princess,” like Queen Esther, and you can really speak into others’ lives for God’s Kingdom and help others in their lives as well.

I’ve had the personal honor of meeting Doreen Hanna and she gave me her Raising a Modern-Day Princess book (and workbook journal with the DVD), and I loved it! It’s a great way to learn about yourself, grow into who you are in Christ and desire to be the woman of faith (Proverbs 31 woman) that God has intended you to be! You don’t have to become bitter when hurt, but rather, better! What the enemy intends for evil, God can and will use for good if you choose to walk in your royal anointing and authority. You are a Princess, a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and regardless of your family situation (whether good or bad), you have a heavenly Father who loves, cherishes and admonishes you! God has BIG plans for your life and wants you to seek Him and His Word (the Bible). He wants you to seek wise and godly counsel, as well as to help those who are younger than you by being a Christ-like role model and example.

We all need each other as a sisterhood in the body of Christ. Whether you join a study group and do the Modern-Day Princess workbook or join the PI Girl Talk forum online (or both!), know that there is a community of believers who love you, are cheering you on, are praying for you and are for you!

She is clothed with strength and dignity;

    she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom,

    and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household

    and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed;

    her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things,

    but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;

    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:25-30)

Whether you are a teen or young adult seeking to grow in your faith and royalty (walk in Christ), and/or if you desire to be a leader or representative and want to start this program in your church, all it takes is for you to respond. We can all be modern-day princesses and already are chosen and created to be different, unique, set apart and, of course, holy for God’s honorable use (2 Timothy 2:21). We all have a testimony and can share, learn from it and be the difference in our lives, our circles, communities, cities, states and nations! This MDP movement isn’t just for a couple of people, but rather it is to spur on the neighborhoods near you, and to change our culture and society by placing value on the younger girls who are growing to be women of faith in their schools, workplaces and eventually in their careers.

Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. (2 Timothy 2:21)

Here is a testimony from the Modern Day Princess official website:

“‘I am going to take this across Canada,’ stated Julie Hayes, who was able to fulfill her passion as God brought her great favor with Youth for Christ and they began having Julie speak at every YFC conference across Canada. ‘I have never experienced such joy seeing girls embrace the truth of who they are in Christ and understanding their purpose, value and strength as a young woman. On the other hand, I have also encountered challenges that I thought would be impossible to overcome. But God amazingly showed up and showed off.'”

There are a couple of different books and ministries that Treasured Celebration Ministries has, which include a leadership training seminar (equipping the next generation) called “Becoming a Modern Day Princess”; “Still His Princess” (for any age girl or woman who wants to be encouraged and empowered); and a community-oriented study called “Today’s Modern Day Princess Program.”

Wow, that is so awesome that Hanna has so may different facets to her ministry! The other amazing part about Hanna’s ministry is that there are scholarships for those who are at risk and who want to be a part of the MDP program.
