The song “Your Love Oh Lord” was originally performed by Third Day, a popular Christian music group. The song is about the Bible verse that says, “Your love O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep” (Psalm 36:5). It also refers to Psalm 57, when David exalts the Lord in his music.
The lyrics to this song are so powerful and yet are sweet to the soul. I love the song and the declaration of praise and worship. “I will lift my voice to worship you my King, I will find my strength in the shadow of your wings.”
It references Isaiah 40, Psalm 91 and other powerful scriptures about the Lord and being in His presence. His presence is like being under the shadows during a hot day, like shelter in a storm, and it takes us to new heights like the eagle.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:30-31).
The presence of God is peace, power, safety, comfort, love, joy, everlasting, all-consuming and satisfies like no other thing! That is why we worship Him and thank God we can have a relationship! That is why we sing how great His love is! Third Day commented on the song:
This is a praise song taken from parts of Psalm 36. It tells of God’s great character. His love, faithfulness, and righteousness are far greater than any of us can comprehend or even deserve [Source: Jesusfreakhideout.com].
Listen to the version of “Your Love Oh Lord” by Josh Keever, a friend of mine, and me. I wanted to share this song and pray that it blesses your heart!
