Dress Like a Royal: Look to the Duchess of Cambridge for Style Tips!

It started with a wedding dress that all the fashion gurus said was the perfect gown for Kate Middleton. From that moment, all eyes have been on her. Now a royal, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge is always scrutinized and her fashion sense critiqued.

As a royal, the Duchess opts for conservative attire, all of which I think is modest and attractive. Take a look at the outfits I’ve selected for various occasions and see why I feel they’re appropriate for Christian teen girls.
Let’s start with some summer dresses. The Duchess selects simple styles that are either tailored to her figure or flair out for a more relaxed feel. She often accessorizes with a simple clutch purse and plain pumps. As you can see, a modest look doesn’t mean boring, but rather elegant and sophisticated.

I love the following outfit. The Duchess is wearing an adorable crocheted top over a white pleated skirt. Again, it’s simple, but very fun, elegant, and modest.

When she has the chance to dress down, the Duchess chooses to relax in a pair of jeans with a leather belt. She typically pairs her jeans with a sweater, or a little top under a jacket, shawl, or shrug. She also dresses up her jeans with dress shirts.

When it comes to accessorizing, it’s easy to see that the Duchess is a big fan of hats, scarves, opaque tights, and tall boots. She also enhances her ensembles with small earrings.
Now it’s time for the fun part. Even though you may not get many opportunities to wear an evening gown, I still wanted to share these dresses with you. Look more to the style of the dress rather than the length. You could opt for similar dresses that are knee length or a little above so that you can wear them for a less formal occasion.

The following is my favorite evening gown.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s fashion style has proven to be pretty diverse. At times she dresses in military style, which is definitely not something that I’d copy. However, the examples I’ve given above are so chic and modest, and because of this, I feel that her style is worthy of emulating if you are looking to dress well and with modesty.

I’ve always loved her style. It’s so cute and modest, the look I tend to go towards. I love that everything she wears has sleeves and doesn’t show cleavage (with the one exception of that black dress but it was still nice) its so hard to find these days

I love her style! It’s so cute and fashionable, but modest and elegant at the same time. Elegance and modesty are dying arts these days, and it’s great that someone with as much influence as her is keeping it alive! I love the black velvet gown.

I LOVE the first summer dress! So cute! I really like that she dresses modestly, when people dress unmodestly, I just think it looks trashy, and unthought out.
I like her style because it is very modest while also being classy and chic! I think that even if you don’t like her specific options, you can use the principles of her outfits, higher necklines and knee-length skirts, in our everyday outfits. While it’s hard to find high-necklined, knee-length dresses for teens these days, you can do it with a shirt-and-skirt outfit or wear a cami and/or a cute cardigan with your dress.

I definitely thinks she looks gorgeous and modest, but I think it helps that her body type is the way it is. I KNOW I couldn’t wear some of those because of my body type, and not just because it wouldn’t look good, but also because it would look immodest. I’m not saying she’s not modest, just that it’s easier for her to do that and be cute.
You can manipulate similar outfits to look modest. E.g. add shawls and bolero jackets if you have a large bust, or just focus on the styles that do look modest. We are all different, and these styles may not work with everyone, just take what you can and make it yours.
I am going to try and get my wedding dress to look like that! My mom’s looks just like it, but with short sleeves, and she told me I can have it

I couldn’t believe it when I saw her wedding gown…it’s exactly what I dreamed mine will look like! she looked so fresh and classic and gorgeous. She’s my style icon…the lavender dress is stunning, but I think I like the pink shimmery Jenny Packham dress better. The green knit shawl rocks

Yes! I saw that dress too. I love it. Did you see the white layered dress she wore at Wimbledon? Stunning! I didn’t have enough room in the post to add all the outfits. But there were so many more I loved.
I also love the black velvet dress- normally I don’t go for strapless, but it’s very classy and not revealing on her.

She wasn’t officially a “model.” When she was in college they did a fashion show and she modeled a see-through dress with black undergarments. Rumor has it that this was the moment that Prince William took notice of her.
supposedly they met in a bar on campus, and Will asked Kate’s friend on a date. That didn’t work out, so he asked Kate a few weeks later.
