I did gymnastics several years ago, and I miss it so much! It was my passion 🙂 I did it recreationally (I didn’t compete) but I had so much fun learning back handsprings, handstands on the balance beam and all that good stuff ;))
So tell me, what’s your favorite thing about gymnastics? What level did you get to (or what level are you in)? What’s your favorite skill?

Ahhhh yes, I’m with you!!! I miss it ALOT. My sister had the SEC gymnastics championships (I didn’t know those existed haha) on earlier, and it made me want to cry. I’ll always be a gymnast at heart 😛
I was definitely beyond beginners… I was learning the vault. I had learned floor routine, bar and beam basics. Past beginners with all of it, and I was pretty good with the basics. No tricks though haha.
Why’d you quit?

I did gymnastics for a few years. I started taking when I was about eight or nine, and took for about two years. But then I had to quit and wasn’t able to start back again for a couple of years. So by the time I got back into it they made me go back into the beginner classes which kind of sucked. I took for about three or four years more before I quit. They asked me to join the team a couple of times but I never did. Competing just wasn’t really my style I guess 😛
Bars were always my favorite. Second place would have to go to floor and vault. I never really liked the beam that much.
I quit for a couple of reasons. One was that after so long I just sorta lost my passion for it. Also at one point I was at the top of the class, but then the teachers kind of threw me out there too much, and it was really nerve racking….It caused me to screw up really bad and I’m not sure what happened but I just kind of lost my spark. Everything I did was lopsided and it was depressing. :/ The teachers would get annoyed with me because I just couldn’t do the stuff anymore. After so long I just decided it would be better to move my focus to something else since it was obvious I was no longer succeeding in my gymnastics. And I’m glad I did! It feels better to move on now. And I feel so much more confident in myself when I’m not surrounded by people who are disappointed in me xD

Faith~ The first gym I belonged to was amazing, and I improved really quickly because the coach was really serious about gymnastics. She was really positive but reallllly pushed you so that you actually got the skills. I ended up moving right before I was going to compete with them, and the next gym I attended wasn’t so good, but it was the only one within an hour of me :/ It was a more “for fun” gym, and I stopped improving, so I decided to do Cross country instead.
AHHH I miss it so much! I want to find a gym that takes young adult students seriously! The only gyms I’ve found only offer classes to little kids.
