Hey gals, just curious to see if any other PI girls play Ice hockey. It’s my passion and I love it more than almost anything else in the world! I play on two teams during the normal season and one spring league team. Even though a lot of people think of it as being really masculine and boyish, girls’ hockey is truly becoming it’s own unique form of the sport. It’s really different in that there’s no checking and fighting. On top of that it’s a wonderful opportunity to witness to teammates and coaches. I would recommend ice hockey to any girls who are looking for a great team sport to play!

Ah!! I really wanna play! I wanted to play when I was little but it was way too expensive for my family. I’m in college now and hockey is one of my favorite things – definitely a passion of mine, even from a spectator’s standpoint! I haven’t had a chance to play myself yet, but I go to all the men’s games (our team is D1 and really great this season) and one of my best friends is on the women’s club team. I took a skating class last semester as a PE credit, but unfortunately due to my work schedule I can’t go to open skate. I’m hoping to skate more and learn to handle a puck over the summer so I can join the club team next year.
I know it’s not the same, but I play broomball! My university has a huge intramural league and tons of students play. You’re actually kinda a schmuck if you don’t play, haha. I play on an all women’s team for one of the Christian orgs, Cru, and we just found out that we made the playoffs!
But yeah, I definitely love hockey, and right now broomball is the closest I’ve been able to come to playing it! If you haven’t played broomball you should definitely try it out – it’s really fun and since you play hockey you’d be great at it! 😀
