Hello! I just have a quick question because I would love to know you guys’ opinion on this matter!
So… guys like to define girls based on looks. Beautiful, Pretty, Gorgeous, Cute, Hot…. Most of these are acceptable and can make us feel loved.
I have a problem with guys calling girls “hot” for this reason, tho:
God calls His children “beautifully made”. Not anywhere did or would God call His children that He loves dearly “hot”. And, for this reason, I believe calling a lady “hot” is a disrespectful way to talk about the way God made her.
Does anyone else feel this way?

YES. It’s wrong to call girls hot or sexy, because it shows you’re more focused on her appearance–even just parts of her body–than herself! That’s awful!

Not really. God never specifically used the word “pretty” or “cute” to define women either.

Hot just means attractive– usually sexually attractive. Lots of women like to be seen that way; I guess it’s just personal preference, but it’s not necessarily disrespectful.

Personally, I do like to be called beautiful as opposed to hot or cute. I don’t really like to be called “cute” as much as I used to. Beautiful sounds so much more refined and elegant.

well yea, its a personal preference thing but i stand on the not hot side. my boyfriend sometimes calls me sexy and ill make a face and tell him “i dont like being called that word” and he has taken the hint. i feel its not only focusing on the physical, but is kinda also focusing mostly on the suxually appealing part of u. i know its noral and stuff that someone who is in love with yo should also be attracted to you, but i feel it shouldt be the main focus. and to digress abit, i absolutely LOVE how my bf says beautiful you shuld hear him drag out each letter. lol. so yeah, id rather hear that han hot or sexy

I would not like to be called “hot” or “sexy”. I agree with theteenfashionista. Those words focus on the physical appearance of a woman. Pretty is something a guy friend can call his girl friend. I feel like a boy should only say his girlfriend is beautiful or gorgeous. Those words apply to both appearance and soul.

I agree with you guys. I do see that it is personal preference. I don’t really like being called cute (I mean, I’m not a puppy) but it’s def better than being called hot or sexy. We are beautiful. God made us beautiful. There is so much more to us than just looks, and I hope guys understand that… I know some do. There are guys out there who focus on a girls personality rather than what she looks like, and that makes me so happy!
Thank you for your feedback 🙂

I like being called hot or sexy more honestly. *Ducks to avoid fire balls*
All my life I’ve been told I’m beautiful and pretty. It’s not really special to me. It feels fake anymore. Being called hot or sexy makes me feel confident and powerful where as beautiful feels like a normal compliment.
I know you think I’m putting my confidence in the wrong thing but I’ve finally found my self confidence and it comes from more than my looks. But being sexy has never been bad to me. I know that in a Christian community it is a controversial opinion but it’s how I honestly feel. Its special to me.

Juanita, i love your honesty. and a little confession on my side, another reason i dont like being called sexy is coz honestly it can get rather flattering. and as a girl, that can be a bit of a per pressure thing it might lead me to ocus more on my looks and on more sexually appealing stuf for that matter so from me, id say define your version of hot and sexy and go by that cz the worldz version is not cool.

I think being called hot or sexy focuses on the sexual appeal of a woman. I think a woman should be wanted for more than the sexual appeal she has.
I agree with Heartberry that it’s normal to find someone you’re in love with attractive, but I don’t think it should be the sole reason someone likes you.

Thank you for your honesty Juanita. I hope you have not been offended. I can see that each person has their own particular interest on what they like to be called, and I understand the part of where it may seem more special or maybe rare for you to be called hot or excetera than just beautiful but I also agree with theteenfashionista about how it may be more focused on the physical attraction rather than personality or interests. And I agree with heartberrry as far as let your version of hot and sexy go by what God says your worth and value is. Don’t go by the worlds standards.

I honestly like being called cute, pretty, and gorgeous. As for hot and sexy, I don’t want to be called that until I’m married just because I personally feel like that’s something that’s fine if said by your husband
