Hey girls 🙂 So whenever I click on this “real beauty” tab, I see a lot of people who have trouble with body image and weight loss. I just wanted to create one response here that can pertain to all of them. So here it goes…
Unless you are overweight at the point to where your health is at stake, losing weight is not the real goal. (Find out if your weight to height ratio or BMI is within a healthy range here: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm ) The real goal is to feel comfortable in your skin and love and accept yourself for who you are. Yes, of course you should live a healthy live style. Eat healthy and exercise a couple times a week, go for a nice bike ride or just walk around the mall five times a day, whatever you like. But that doesn’t mean that you are obligated to starve yourself and wait until you are happy because I promise you, it doesn’t work that way. Sometimes losing weight is a good way to help your body image but unless you do that in a healthy way (eating right and exercising) it’s actually detrimental to your health.
Also, I just want to take a minute to express how wonderful exercising is. It not only helps you get to your fitness goals, but it feels amazing! After finishing a workout, I just feel so refreshed and ready to start the day. It gives you the feeling that you’ve worked for something and you’ve accomplished something, and that’s a nice feeling. It doesn’t even have to be a huge workout, but maybe even just a few minutes of physical activity. What I love to do for my morning workout is a 30 day fitness challenge ( http://30dayfitnesschallenges.com ). I’m currently doing the squat challenge, and I’m doing the crunch challenge with double the amount of crunches they say to do. The workout takes maybe five minutes and leaves me feeling great afterwards. It’s not that I lose weight or end up looking more fit within those five short minutes, but it makes me FEEL stronger and more fit.
One more thing I would like to share… Confidence is EVERYTHING. If you carry yourself in a confident way that shows others that you are happy with who you are, that just multiplies your beauty x100. Confidence is so gorgeous. On the other hand, if you lack confidence and you carry yourself in a way that looks self conscious, flaws actually become more noticeable. If you are having trouble working for your ideal weight or shape or whatever it is, strive for confidence. You are all so beautiful and deserve to carry yourself in a way that reflects the fact that you are the daughter of King Jesus. YOU ARE A PRINCESS! I hope some of you girls can at least take something out of this post 🙂 God loves you
