I don’t know why but it always hurts a little when someone says that I am “cute”. Why not beautiful? I was just curious if anyone else ever feels this way? Do you ever tell other girls that they are cute, and if you do what do you actually mean?

I much prefer being called beautiful as well. It’s just a nicer word and I think “cute” is over used. I do use the word cute to mean pretty or attractive though, like if a friend is dressed in a casual, but well, cute outfit.;) But at say, a formal dance I would tell someone she looks beautiful if she’s wearing a nice, formal dress. I guess I use “cute” in everyday, casual situations and beautiful in more formal settings.

To me cute, pretty, and beautiful all mean the same thing unless there is an underlying message of ‘oh your cute because you can’t be taken seriously’ Then again people don’t really call me ‘cute’ because I’m kinda a serious personality so I tend to get called pretty.
