Hey, what do you guys think of people that supposedly get saved right before they die ( or think they’re going to die) . I have no doubt that it can happen; the thief on the cross died shortly after conversion and knew he had just hours to live. I just wonder if people sometimes do it because they’re dying and want to believe in something. Today someone that our pastor knows got saved, and they are dying. I was very happy to hear that they got saved, but I’ve been told that could just be out of desperation. Kind of confusing. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think purposely waiting until you’re on your deathbed is like treating Jesus as a get-out-of-hell-free card, honestly.

I agree with that… to a point.
I say this mostly because for some, lingering on the edge of morality is what brings a lot of people to conclusions they had been distracted from earlier. These are people who, only as they were near losing everything, realized what/who/etc truly matters to them, and they have a shift of perspective and clarity. So I can’t say I exactly blame someone whose change of heart comes very late in life. After all, I can’t know what made their decision “click” internally.
