The Bible clearly says not to lie, but what about Rahab? She lied when she hid the spies (she said they had left when they were really on her roof) and she is considered a woman of great faith in the Bible, and highly honored.

Also, what about people in say, World War 2, hiding Jewish people? If a Nazi asked them if they were hiding anyone, of course they would say no; they’re protecting an innocent person. But it *would* be lying.

I think if it depends on another person’s safety yes. Like if someone asked a young teen if they are home alone, they could say no even if they are. If someone is in danger, i think it is okay to lie.

I think in Rahab’s case it wasn’t really lying because technically they HAD left, they were no longer in the house ;)… in other situations I think it’s okay if it’s dangerous to someone’s safety to tell the truth…
