I know that this seems silly, but does anyone else feel like PI has become really… superficial? Like, I only see a few articles that actually talk about deep spiritual stuff, and everything else is clothes, relationship, crafts, and “How to Know When You…”. I love the forums, but the site itself has become really “wordly” so to speak. And add in all of the articles on celebrities and those “morning moments” and I feel like this is just like any other website, only with a bit of Christianity mixed in. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I honestly haven’t looked at the articles in forever. I always thought they were kinda dumb. I did notice them getting dumber a while ago, so it makes sense that the pattern has continued.
They had some good makeup tips sometimes though.

I usually just come on the Girl talk forums, but actually a couple days ago I was looking through the articles and thought they were really good! They had one on combatting human trafficking, and a couple others I really enjoyed.

I feel like there are a lot of romance-y ones that mostly attract boy-crazy middle schoolers. “omg me and my boyfriend are 13 and we are ready to get married but our parents won’t let us 🙁 🙁 🙁 what do we do now??””
seriously.
I like the ones that are filled with like fun things to do on holidays and parties and like reading and ya know the cool artsy and feely ones. I don’t know how to explain it.
I feel like most of the times the forums are fun but I feel like they’ve been dead lately….or atleast no good topics? I miss the long controversial topics being discussed. Not the whole “k theres this boy i like” ones. Maybe its just me though haha

^I was just thinking the Girl Talk forums have been realllllllly quiet. We need some (new) controversy over here! 😉

Also, did anyone read the recent Pinterest article they had up here? I skimmed through it and afterwards I was like “what was that even about?” I feel like some of the articles are basically the writers running out of ideas or trying too hard….

I always liked the weekly ones that give an overview of the news and what has been popular that week. I like how it’s ACTUAL news about whats going on around the world rather than how “everyone” loves TS’s new album. I haven’t seen those weekly articles in awhile though.

I dunno. There seems to be a lot of variation in the articles, which is good, but I do sort of get what you mean, Lotr; lots of “You know you’re a _______ when you….” meme/GIF articles and things like that. There are still some spiritual ones, and awareness-raising ones, but I do feel like some of the articles could go deeper into spiritual topics, rather than just the usual scratch-the-surface stuff that we all know already.

Also, this may just be my personal opinions, but does anyone else ever feel like the Olivia person doesn’t always give the best advice? Like, I don’t say that to be rude or slam her, because I’m sure she is a great woman of God, and I respect her for that; it’s just that, back when they had Ask Ashya (I think that’s how it was spelled), I always read those articles, and the whole time I was thinking “YES! Yes. I totally agree with that…I get that…That’s exactly what I would have said…That lines up with [insert Scripture]” etc….and ever since they changed it to Ask Olivia, there have been times when I’ve read the articles and cringed at certain spots because I was like “Um…I don’t think that’s true…You really didn’t phrase that in a good way….that came off as kind of judgemental 😐 “. It may just be me having too much criticism or not personally agreeing, I was just wondering if anyone else had/has those thoughts. 🙂

^^^ agreed. great points Mandi!
I’ve been a member longer than I’ve been active on this website, so I don’t remember Ashya…or maybe I do I just never paid much attention to some of the articles like that. I do feel like a lot of the articles are judgmental. There was one about Katy Perry once (not a fan of her but still) and it just ripped her apart. Saying how she was no longer a woman of God, how we shouldn’t listen to her, how she lied about her faith etc. etc. And like that was one of the worst articles on PI I’ve ever read. Many girls actually commented on how rude it was and how we should pray for her instead.
Another thing I never really liked was the modesty blogs. I am a very modest dresser mostly because it’s one of my personal morals and the way I feel comfortable dressing, but some of the articles are waaaay off. Like there was one that said you shouldn’t expose your shoulders, no v necks, etc etc. and I noticed that on Nicole’s instagram, she had several outfits that she wrote about not wearing. Lots of V necks, exposed shoulders, open backs, shorts, etc.
I did not think any of Nicole’s outfits like that were immodest, but it just rubbed me the wrong way, she was telling us how immodest these clothes were when the same day she posts a picture of herself wearing shorts, a and a v neck tank top… I do not personally believe any of those things are immodest (except some v necks….where the girls come out and say hi lol)
I hope I didn’t come out as sounding judgmental on any of those things! These are just some things I’ve noticed that I don’t really like on the PI website. However I do like how Ask Olivia tells it like it is when she needs to. I like her bluntness and her honesty!

I do like how they talk about bikinis though! I feel like that is a very sensitive subject on many Christian websites and I’ve noticed how PI often leaves it for the reader to decide. They talk about about it openly and they don’t really seem to have a strong opinion on it. They have never slammed girls or had a modesty blog (that i’ve seen) talking about how bikini wearers burn in hell (seriously though, I have seen so many blogs saying that).

I think they probably want to focus more on what we girls in high school and middle school (or collage) are going through. I really did like the article on 50 Shades of Grey, I thought that was really well written and the writer did an excellent job wording everything. I usually just look over the main page a few times and find it a little harder to find an article I’d be interested in reading.
