Hello, PI! My name is Jilly and I wanted to seek out help for what I’m going through. I don’t know much (That’s an understatement). I feel so dumb, and it makes me depressed a lot. Math is difficult for me, and I’m no where near where I should be at my age. I’m a senior and my dream is to attend a prestigious college and play sports there. But I get depressed because I know I’ll never do that, because I’m dumb and too nervous to play. I wish I excelled and could still excell in academics. I wanna have motivation to get great grades, but I don’t have it. I’m reminded that my relationship with Jesus and how I love others is more important, but I’m still depressed. Please help.

Jilly

Hello Jilly, looks like you are going through a lot. I’m sorry I haven’t responded sooner, I’ve been so overwhelmed with life myself. My family is going through a lot of issues right now (I’m from a missionary family and it looks like issues never end, haha). Anywho. I am so sorry you feel the way you do. First off I just want you to know you are NOT dumb!! In fact, you are a special special treasure to the Kingdom of God and the Lord has made you incredibly unique in every way. I know what it’s like to struggle and feel dumb and that you never measure up to your own expectations. I’ve always had big dreams and goals, but I have Asperger’s. It’s a form of Autism that can sometimes feel very crippling, especially with studying and social situations. AND I’m a missionary which means I need to be super social lol. So you are not alone <3 And definitely not dumb. In fact, you are sinning against the Lord when you call yourself dumb because He does not make junk. He makes only masterpieces. YOU are His masterpiece my dear. I also struggle with math like crazy (I'm sure you are a lot better at it than I am). But with our inadequacies, truly comes the Lord's strength. Where we are weak, there He is strong. Next… We always need to keep in mind that the Lord loves His children and if we truly do make Him first in our lives… He will definitely support you in what you do, bless Your plans and help you succeed. He is not against you. He is on your side!! Here are several Bible verses that have helped me tremendously:

Jeremiah 29:11 β€œFor I know the plans I have for you, Says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

2 Timothy 1:7 β€œFor God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self discipline.”

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

I hope this helps even in a small way. I cannot stress enough how much I want to help and how well I understand all you're going through. Know you're special. Don't beat yourself up. Know God is for you and wants to help you. Make small baby steps toward your goal. Do not give up. And know that you always have someone praying for you <3 God bless!!

Oh my goodness Schwibz, (I wish I knew your real name!) THANK YOU so much for those encouraging words! You said you hope you helped in a small way, but you helped in a BIG WAY! You’re absolutely right; I am sinning against God by calling myself dumb. I’m not dumb.

You are such a godly woman, you know? That was so nice of you to quote all those scriptures for me, and tell me the truth about how God sees me. I’m glad I’m not alone in this. I’ll be praying for you, my fellow sister in Christ πŸ™‚

Lots of love!
