Okay, so today I had a job interview scheduled. I arrived about half an hour early, and with the extra time, I was waiting in my car, fixing my make up and making sure I looked professional. I happened to look at another car in the lot. There was an older man inside (maybe upper 50s?). He was staring at me.
I didn’t think anything of it, honestly, but I caught another glimpse of him a moment later. He was leaning across the passenger seat and really staring at me now. I noticed his arm doing *that* motion. I was totally in shock, so creeped out… But I know that’s what he was doing at me. Thankfully, I didn’t see any parts, but yeah…
Anyways, I’m really honestly confused about the situation. I don’t know what to do. I feel really embarrassed about it, and a little dirty. Also, kind of scared. Disgusted. I’m kind of nervous to bring it up to my mom, or to anyone really.
Does anyone have experience with this? What do I do? Should I involve the police? I called later and informed the store where I was applying what happened just to make sure none of the female employees got attacked or anything. Should I do something beyond that? I am at such a loss right now…

I think it was a good move to call the store about it. I’m honestly not sure if that counts legally as any sort of assault? so I don’t know if the police could do anything. But you should probably tell your mom, because I think that will make you feel better, and also she could more wisely discern whether you should alert the police about it or anything.
I’m sorry that happened to you, though. :/ There’s absolutely no excuse for anyone acting like that, and I understand your feeling disgusted; but, don’t feel embarrassed or anything about it. Unfortunately, things like that happen. You did the right thing in calling the store about it.

Thanks for replying, Mandi. Really, thank you.
I talked to my mom about it. She said that I’ll be upset about it for a while, probably have some nightmares and stuff… There’s not anything that can be done legal-wise (to our knowledge), but she’s going to look into getting me mace or something…
I’m still thoroughly freaked out and upset, but I do feel a little better. I think with some time and serious prayer I’ll start feeling less violated.

Indecent Exposure. You could definitely report him, especially if you happened to get his license plate number.

^ There we go.

Beyond indecent exposure, it also becomes a separate legal problem if you are under 18, and a separate one if this guy is found doing this again. If you can remember, describe the car as well as you can, especially anything that makes it stand out against other models. I think your feelings are normal, but you certainly don’t want anybody else to be in that situation.

That’s is a little scarring. I am so sorry that happened to you! First off, it is not in Ny way your fault. He was being creepy and that’s on his head. Secondly, sadly I don’t think that any legal action can be taken and your mom is probably right that you will be upset about it and it will eventually pass. 🙁 I hope you are ok!
