1 Corinthians 11 says women should cover their head when they pray or prophesy. Many people say it doesn’t apply to today, but I can’t shake the thought and feel the need to study more into it. What are your thoughts?

Pianist 4 Christ
When Paul was writing this, he was speaking to a very specific church. For Corinthian women, wearing a head overlong was a sign of submission to their husbands, and their husbands’ submission to Christ. It was kind of a way of Corinthian Christians to be set apart from the world. Also, I have always seen the “long hair is her glory” part as saying that we as women ought to be feminine. Some denominations take this as only wearing skirts and never cutting your hair, others as simply not wearing men’s clothes and keeping your hair in a way that tells others, “yes, I am indeed a woman” and doesn’t make people wonder. For me, I choose to dress modestly and wear clothes that are girly (jeans included) and I keep my hair really long, it’s past my waist now and I only trim it when necessary. I think you should do whatever God is telling you and what you feel convicted to do. If you genuinely believe God has put it in your heart to wear skirts and not cut your hair ever again, then follow your convictions. If you can find other ways to be set apart, then do that.

I haven’t watched it but maybe the teaching “head coverings” by 119 ministries.

I was just reading this scripture, last night. I thought the same thing. We often hear, “It doesn’t apply today,” about much of what is written in the bible, but God tells us He and His word are never changing.

MrsHarris1988 I agree, God’s word doesn’t change. I’ve decided to start covering my head.
