Someone just asked my mom if she was Christian, and she said no. I heard her say that from another room. I nearly had a heart attack. My family is not super religious, but that scared me. What do I do?

Aw babe I’m so sorry. It’s heartbreaking when anyone–but esp family–doesn’t understand God’s love and goodness.
This is going to sound super cliché and boring, but it’s the most important thing you can do: Pray (There’s a reason it’s cliché, it works 😉 ). Talk to God and tell him your concerns, then try not to worry about it.
Some people may tell you to work on being a really good daughter so that your mom will come to Christ through you, but –with all due respect to goodness–I beg to differ. Trying to be a “perfect witness for Christ” puts a huge burden on you to perform perfectly. It also causes you to focus on yourself and your own efforts, which is very frustrating. Instead of focusing on your own performance, focus on the finished work of Jesus Christ! Read the New Testament (particularly Ephesians) and focus on the goodness, unmerited favor, blessings and love God has for you–not because of your goodness, but because of God’s love for you, his own dear child.
When you make this your focus, God’s love and joy and peace and goodness will naturally flow through you, and that is the best representation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Beyond that, it’s not your job to save your mom, it’s God’s. Do not try to do God’s job for him. If you feel God telling you to say something, say it. Otherwise, simply love your mom where she’s at, respect her, and trust God to draw her to Him.
If you ever need encouragement in your walk with God, we PI girls are always here for you! You are our sister in Christ and we love you! <3
