Hi everyone. I’m new to reading the bible and I got the app because I thought it would be better access than the physical book. I’m just very confused because I don’t know which version to read, how to read it, and where to start. Can anyone help?

I’ve heard that John is a great place to start. Personally I’m starting at Genesis and going in order.
It’s always great to pray before you read too. Ask God to give you full understanding and open your eyes to the truth.
As for which translation you should use, I recommend reading this article:

Eyyy!
You’ll find it is splint into 2 sections:
Old Testament and New Testament.
the first four books of the NT are called the Gospels. The first five books of the OT Is called the Torah. Start at the beginning, its best! Many people think that the Law is done away with because they don’t understand the NT because without the OT how can you understand the NT?
PS- If you’re having trouble understanding Scripture 119 Ministries is great to watch. πŸ˜‰ Shalom!

Tree of live is a good version πŸ™‚ I really started out reading with the GODS word translation. Start in Genesis, you can’t understand the NT without the OT. Don’t listen when people tell you to start in the Gospels or the NT in General, Elohim (God) put it in a specific order for a reason.

Hooray!! Congrats on beginning your Bible study journey πŸ™‚ As a girl who has been in a Catholic school for 12 years now, I read it in a certain order and it seemed to help make sense when you start at Genesis, then work your way through. Leviticus and Deuteronomy (the books of laws and numbers) were a bit tough to go through in one go, so what we did was the Gospels and then to finish up we would read a little bit of those books. It’s incredible how Jesus fulfills the Covenants through what he does in the Gospels and seeing where the seeds were first planted (in the Torah) is really awesome. As for reading the Bible and techniques/methods for doing so, I would keep a pen handy when reading and I would draw brackets around any covenants and keep a journal nearby and use the SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer) method to journal about the passages. I’ll also play some Hillsong United or Newsboys in the background if I feel like it πŸ™‚ I will keep you in my prayers, my sister in Christ, and wish you the best of luck in your journey!

Hey! I recommend Genesis because it literally means the beginning. It tells you how God created the world we live in now and how we ended up in sin. I would usually recommend reading in order but seeing how you are new I recommend reading one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) right after that. I also recommend NLT(New Living Translation).
β€œJesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” KJV (Kings James Version)
Jesus told him, β€œI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” NLT (New Living Translation)
