Ever since I was three I’ve been somewhat Christian and went to church every Sunday. But then my parents got divorced and my Mom stopped taking me to church and my faith went downhill, and then I found this author, Melody Carlson, who wrote Christian books, and reading her books helped me to get my faith back. Shortly after that, I moved 30 minutes away and was really upset and sad, and my feelings just kept weighing down on me, because I had been keeping them in since my parents got divorced. Then I found this site which also helped, but not much. I have asked my Mom to take me to church a few times, but she always gave the same response, that her and my step dad were thinking about it. I don’t have any Christian friends. I know some people who are Christian, and have tried to be friends with them, I even went to their church once, but it never worked out. My family hasn’t helped either. My sister is agnostic and thinks that “my God” is a hypocrite. My step dad is supposedly a Christian but cusses A LOT and makes racial jokes. My mom isn’t really Christian and neither is my dad, and my step mom doesn’t really talk about that stuff. Now, I am hugely doubting that God is real and I don’t like it, and I have recently started thinking depressing thoughts about myself and that no one loves me. So, does anyone have any advice for me please?

Hey! well you could try reading some more Christian books and reading your Bible more. Also, i think it would be a good idea for you to get some bible notes. UCB do some really good ones:) maybe you should approach your mom/dad/step mom/step dad about taking you to church. do you have a christian union at school? meeting new people can be hard but its really fun:) a little while back there was an article on here about how to worship if your parents wont take you to church, have a read! http://www.projectinspired.com/how-to-worship-if-your-parents-wont-take-you-to-church/

One of most major things a Christian can do is pray! And i dont mean those simple little prayers of hope. God wants you to truely reach out to him with everything youve got. He doesnt want your our reach to be half hearted. Even if you dont get the answer you wanted right away DO NOT GIVE UP. My best friend was in a situation ALOT like yours. Shoe found God when she reached the bottom. But i agree with emily. Try and read you Bible. God is there i promise. Dont let satan get to you. You’ve stayed strong this long just pray and hold your faith! God bless, im praying for you!
Listen to this song, its probably the most impacting songs Ive ever heard:

You should pray and read your Bible more. If you keep faith, God will show you how much he loves you. Keep your faith and you will like the results :) Read other Christian books and I will pray for your depression. Did you know they found Moses’s name scratched off a rock from Ancient Egypt? And the fact that medical miracles happen that baffle doctors. Noah’s Ark found on the same mountain where it says in the bible. Keep faith and research. It really helps :)

I went through a period of my life, some very dark years, where I wasn’t sure if I was a christian or not. That scared me a lot and it really hurt my faith so I totally know where you are coming from. No person can ever stay steadfast, we all have doubts sometimes! My brother and dad didn’t believe in God and Jesus and my mom did but once our church started to change we didn’t really attend one weekly.
What really helped me was staying focused on what I wanted an answer to. Was I a christian or not? I started to listen to christian pop music and was totally in love with it. The more I listened the more it helped. Some great artists are Britt Nicole, Mandisa and Chris Tomlin! Some other things that helped were talking to friends, christian or not, and praying, praying and more praying! I read the bible a lot, trying to see if I truly believed in what it spoke about.
Then something really amazing happened. The final piece of the puzzle clicked and finally I was complete! I went to a church camp last summer and nothing felt more right. Sometimes it’s hard to find a church that fits for you, I still haven’t, but going to youth groups or just worshiping by yourself is fine. Now I want to be a pastor or preacher or whatever your church calls it. God found me and he scooped me up and shone the light on me. I was depressed, confused and alone but now I really want to give my life up to him.

I really hope you find who you are in Him,

I know it might be kinda late to help, but if you’re still struggling with your faith, I just read a book called “From Blah to Awe” by Jenna Lucado Bishop. It is about ‘shaking up a boring faith’ and it really helped me become closer to God and made my faith firmer and stronger. I’ll be praying for you. :)
