I have been attending my current church now for three and a half years and I could not love it or my church family any more than I do. My issue is that I am trying really hard not to fall for my pastor’s son. I am not old enough to date, which I agree with since I believe dating in high school is meaningless anyway, but I still find myself starting to fall for him. The reason why I have tried so hard not to fall for him is because he is four years (and a few months) older than I am. If we were closer in age I know I would have fallen for him long ago. If I were to think of basic traits of a “dream guy” (such as truly loves Jesus, is a leader, intelligent, etc.), he would meet all of them. But realistically, would the age gap be too large after I graduate high school? My parents absolutely approve of him and tease me about liking him. Is the age gap too large?

Nah girl it’s fine, the gap is to big for me personally but my best friend won’t date anyone unless they are 2 years older at least. After high school it will totally be fine go for it girl

No the age gap is not too large, but you cannot date him now of course. Many people have married someone who is older, and when they are both following Jesus the relationship will flourish. Take Ruth and Boaz as an example, he was older than her and God desired them to marry. The real issue is whether this young man would desire to be with you, and whether it is God’s will. Does he show interest in you, that is different than other people. Also I myself have fallen before for someone like this, but now he is dating someone. I had fallen for him but he barely knew me, so I will caution you on falling for a guy who does not know you well.

The age gap is not too big take Ruth and Boaz as an example, but the real issue is whether it is God’s will and if he likes you. Does he treat you differently than other girls? You are still to young to date him now, of course. Though I would caution you on not letting your feelings carry you away.

Do whatever you like. Don’t think about the reasons.
