So my dad has always says that getting a tattoo is a sin and that he won’t tolerate them on me or any of my siblings. I know in the Old Testament it says that you should not make any permanent markings on your body, for instance, tattoos. But I know that back then tattoos meant you worshipped the devil or something. I really want a tattoo when I am older (No tattoos right now, I’m only 17). It would probably be of one of my favorite Scriptures but I’m really worried that if I get one that my dad would resent me for it and that I may be sinning. Please help!!

Tattoos aren’t a sin. You’re correct, the verse in Leviticus was referring to idol worship.

Tattoos aren’t a sin. I really want one eventually once I graduate from college and actually have money. I think as long as what you’re tattooing isn’t something bad and actually meaningful to you, it’s fine. I really want a Jesus fish or a heart.

I agree. Tattoos aren’t a sin. But it is a sin to disobey your parents. I, too, want a tattoo, but like your dad, my mom will not tolerate it. It really is your decision, just don’t ruin your relationship with your family over it.

Tattoos are a sin, your body is a temple. Even if by somehow it isn’t (which Scripture states different) I wouldn’t risk getting something like that.

I don’t really know…my uncle talked to me about this once since I was confused too. People back then got tattoos of their idols so it was bad but now I do not know…I don’t want a tattoo. Those just never interested me but a lip piercing is something I’m actually interested in but have no clue if those are right or not…that and maybe an eyebrow piercing. God Bless!
