I’ve seen all over the place some sort of variation of “girls should wear hem lines that go at least down to the knee.” Now I’m a firm believer in modesty, but I also feel that you can be modest wearing a tank top and shorts with a hem line about your knee. Like right now, my shorts are about 6 inches above my knee, mind you my legs are long. Most of my shorts are that length except maybe 2 that I bought to wear to school that are fingertip length. I am also perfectly fine with wearing tank tops. However, I usually try to keep my tank tops to my school’s 3 finger policy. I don’t wear things like bikinis though because I feel like that just crosses the too-much-skin-line for me. On the flip side, I am way too short for maxi dresses and maxi skirts, and things that go to my knee or below make me look shorter, fatter, and stubbier because of my weight, height, and awkward proportions. But I have no problem going out in short shorts and a tank top. Is that bad in your opinion?

I think 6 inches are fine 🙂 I measured it out on my body right now 😀 and even though I have rather short legs, I would be comfortable wearing shorts like that. It’s also longer than when I apply the fingertip rule. For me, the most important thing when it comes to shorts is, is the butt peeking out? Do they rather look like underwear? When I sit, can anybody see parts of my vagina (I’m not kidding, I once saw a girl in PE that was wearing loose and very short shorts and when she sat on the floor of the gym, you could see her underwear)? So I don’t wear hotpants in public, but I think everything a few inches longer than that is okay. I also wear tanktops. I guess that some people think that when they are very tight and formfitting, that is not okay, or when the top has a racerback and one can see bra straps? I don’t know what else should be bad about tank tops. 🙂

I read somewhere today that a girl shouldn’t show her arms because that would be immodest. I’m like, I do that all the time. 99% of my dresses are sleeveless. And yeah I always make sure of that too. I actually just bought a pair of shorts a month ago ish and they fit fine and then when I got them home and tried to wear them when school got out, I noticed they rode up in the butt. So I don’t wear them. But now what really ticks me off is that today I wore a V-neck t-shirt without a tank top underneath and my dad said to me “I’m glad we care about modesty in this house.” And I was like, don’t talk to me about being immodest. There’s a reason why I make sure my collars are a decent height and my behind isn’t sticking out of my shorts.

I personally don’t wear shorts anymore, but I think bermuda shorts are modest. HelloModesty.com wears them a lot and shows many different ways to style them.☺
