I am 14, coming up on 15, and i don’t believe in recreational dating. However, I do really like this one guy, more than a normal amount, like I hope that wemay someday end up together. Neither of us are even close be be of dating(courting) age, and I haven’t said anything to him about my feelings. Is it okay for me to feel this way about him? I don’t really feel comfortable talking about this to anyone, but i really need some answers. i am very conflicted. Help?

Those kinds of feelings are a very natural part of growing older. We’ve all had crushes at some point. It’s not a sin to be attracted to someone! God made you that way.

However, you do need to be careful. I’m glad you don’t believe in recreational dating, because it can lead to a lot of heartbreak and can put you and a young man in a compromising situation. Right now, since you’re too young to get into a serious relationship with someone, I’d recommend putting your focus on God. Fall deeply in love with Jesus. Find ways to plug in and serve your church, your community, and the people around you. As this young man’s Christian sister, it’s your role to encourage him to focus on God, too. Don’t worry about whether or not you and this young man will end up together. It’s natural to wonder, but you have to proceed with caution and with godly discernment.
