It’s normal to have some pain, but if it’s super super bad then it could be a sign that you have a health problem (not to scare you – it could be fine). Just to be safe I would talk to you doctor about it and make sure everything’s okay. I mean, better safe than sorry!

I have used ibuprofen and a hot water bottle (or my cat laying on my stomach) and that had worked for me. If your pain becomes unbearable, I would defiantly talk to your doctor cause they may be able to give you something to help. I know my mom had issues with cramps and what not and when her doctor put her on birth control, it helped a lot.

^I dunno, I’d suggest she talk to her doctor calmly, and not in a boldly resistant or challenging way. lolololololololololol

But yeah, hot water bottle, ibuprofen (TAKE WITH FOOD OR YOU WILL DIE. Okay, you won’t die, but it’ll suck), and my sister in law claims eggs are amazing. I have tried it, and ibuprofen works better of course, but it’s something to try that isn’t drugs. 😛
I prefer the eggs scrambled, and in a breakfast burrito, myself.

I have this thing. It looks like a pillow, but it’s filled with corn kernels. I stick it in the microwave and it gets all warm and I stick it on my stomach and recline and do something like watch TV or read or listen to music and it’s the best 🙂
And my cat likes to lick it when it’s hot and no one knows why :3

Periods suck. Cramps suck. Tampons suck. The whole thing sucks! Thankfully I don’t cramp much but I do get really really achy. My whole body feels like I have the flu. I normally take a bath in Epsom Salts with some lavender oil in it and it really helps me. Otherwise ibuprofen or Excedrin.

Hey girl, I have the exact same problem as you. I had HORRIBLE cramps, like once where you can’t move, and you literally want to die. I have gone to the emergency room four times because of them. Finally, I went to the doctor, and they told me I had a hormone imbalance. Don’t freak out, it’s not bad. They just gave me a low dose birth control to get everything back on track again. That really helped me.

My situation sounds similar to yours. I have very painful cramps, and I’ve been on the brink of collapsing in public places because of them. I normally sleep it off — but not before tossing and turning in agony under the sheets for a good long time until I find a comfortable spot.

I recommend ibuprofen, as some others have mentioned here. Midol works, too. If you feel sore, try bending over so that your back arches. Let your arms hang loosely, and just stand there. Breathe slow and deep. You can also soak a washcloth in warm water and place it over the area that feels sore.

I looked up yoga stretches for that. And it actually helped lol. I always use ibuprofen too.

(Why is this at the top of the forum page when the last reply was two or three weeks ago?) Oh well. Gonna comment anyways!
Ibuprofen (not tylenol!) works best for me! Always take with food like everyone else said. Always. For some strange reason I thought I was the exception to the rule and took a couple advil and was throwing up everywhere and the cramps were way worse! Also one time I took 3 tylenol because I thought it would be stronger and I ended up with worse cramps, I passed out on the bathroom floor, and threw up. Never take more meds than suggested. Ever.
If your cramps are so bad like super super bad talk to your doctor about prescription strength ibuprofen. I wouldn’t go on any narcotics though because those tend to make me sick the next day.
If your cramps really really REALLY hurt and are unbearable, go to the dr. or the ER. Seriously. One time I woke up at 5 am in unbearable pain and I thought my appendix exploded but it turned out I had an ovarian cyst. These things hurt like none other and often come up during your period, mine was before, but they’re way worse when you’re on the drag. Cysts can be either very serious or not serious at all but its still important to get them checked because you don’t know how serious they are until you get an ultrasound.
Periods suck. Everything sucks.

Some types of birth control could really help too! (the hormonal kinds, mainly the pill) There are also natural kinds like I think this one thing called Feminessence.
