Hey guys! So, I really love rock and punk rock music, but I have trouble finding good, appropriate music. Do you know of any good, christian songs/bands?

Some of my favorites are Flyleaf, Lacey Sturm (she has a solo album out now), Eowyn, and Fireflight. The Letter Black also has a good sound, though I haven’t listened to their music for a while. If you have an artist you already like, the site last.fm has a section where you can look at lists of artists with similar sounds. I’ve found it helpful when looking for new music.

“Skillet” used to be my all-time favorite band. If they don’t scream Christian rock, I don’t know what does! If you’re also into female vocals, “The Letter Black” has the same style as Skillet, but with a girl as lead vocalist instead of a boy. Hope this helps! 🙂

Hawk Nelson, Disciple, Relient K, twenty one pilots, Veridia, Switchfoot, and Skillet are all Christian rock/punk bands. Also, my personal favorite is Owl City (AHHHH *fangirls*) but it’s more of electric pop.
Also, there’s quite a few mainstream artists that have some good songs:
1. Emperor’s New Clothes by Panic! At the Disco (it’s clean and has a good message if you understand the lyrics)
2. I’m Only Me When I’m With You by Taylor Swift (not punk rock but I couldn’t resist; it’s so adorable XP)
2. Radioactive by Imagine Dragons
3. On Top Of the World by Imagine Dragons
4. Cancer by My Chemical Romance (warning: you may need a box of tissues when you listen to this)
5. Viva La Vida by Coldplay
6. We Fall Apart by We As Human
7. Immortals by Fall Out Boy
And now for my personal favorites for encouragement, punk-rock style:
1. the Last Night by Skillet
2. Pretty Lies by Veridia
3. Furious Love by Veridia
4. On My Own by Ashes Remain
5. Alone by Hollyn
6. Our Time Is Now by Colton Dixon
7. Dear X, You Don’t Own Me
8. Ready or Not (feat. Lecrae) by Britt Nicole
9. You’ll Never Be Alone by Capital Kings
10. Ships in the Night by Mat Kearney
11. Let it Out by Switchfot
12. Mess of Me by Switchfoot
13. Good Fight by Unspoken
14. Backseat Driver by TobyMac
15. Walk On Water by Family Force Five
16. Soldiers by Out of Eden
17. Chainsaw by Family Force Five
18. Wobble by Family Force Five
I had trouble even narrowing it down to there! There’s a ton of great clean and uplifting songs out there, if you can just find the right bands. I became familiar with many from that last list by listening to Air1. Hope that helps!

I second Hoot Owl’s suggestions for Relient K and twenty one pilots. Relient K is great because while a lot of their songs to explicitly talk about God, it’s not in a preachy/boring way. Deathbed and I So Hate Consequences are my personal favorites. For twenty one pilots, heir songs are a little more covert in the religious imagery, but Goner and Trees especially show it.

I don’t know whether some of these would qualify as punk rock, or just as rock: Superchick, Hawk Nelson, Casting Crowns, Newsboys. All really good artists. Hillsong does a variety of styles, don’t know if any are rock… You’ll have to check them out.
