So, I absolutely love music. I listen to a lot of different music, and I’ve realized that it bothers me whenever I listen to a song and they use bad language or take the Lord’s name in vain. I really like the songs, but at the same time I’m uncomfortable because 1) They’re breaking one of the ten commandments and 2) I don’t believe in cursing (Ephesians 4:29).

I usually just kinda skip over the part where anything like that occurs, but at the same time, it still kind of makes me uncomfortable.

I don’t really have anything else to say, I just thought I’d say that and see if anybody had any thoughts on it.

In the church that I’ve been at for the past 6 years, I’ve been taught that those songs aren’t good for us. They literally build bad connections in our head and can corrupt our thoughts. If we want to live a Christian life why are we listening to music of the world? It goes against our values. Another way to think about it, is if Jesus were to come back right now, would he like what we are listening too? When we listen to music it gets stuck in our head, whether we want it to our not. Here’s a scripture hat talks about what we should think about and I really think it has to do with music too. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” (‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ NLT)
