Hello! I’m going into my Junior year of high school in about a month, and I’ve heard that it can be the toughest year. Aside from switching schools and having to make new friends and stuff like that, I’m nervous about the academics. I’m taking a lot of English classes, and not math or P.E. (two less classes to stress over), but I am taking chemistry and AP Language Composition. Basically I’m asking if anyone who was recently a Junior or was one a while ago has any advice for me. Thanks!

I was in a similar situation last year, having to make all new friends while keeping up with academics and so forth…
Make sure you’re super organized going into the year. This means having a place to keep your papers and notes for each class, ideally some kind of high quality folder or something so it won’t break halfway through the year (happened to me right before midterms and it was a mess 😅). If you don’t understand something completely, make sure you get help RIGHT AWAY, whether it be from a teacher, parent, friend, sibling…just make sure you stay on top of what you are learning each day. If you find you are slipping behind in a specific class, get a tutor..it made a world of a difference for me in my math class last year. (And you don’t have to take math?!? So lucky 😄) I took AP language and composition, and it wasn’t too hard for me; if you are a strong English student, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue (just make sure you stay on top of it, like everything else!). Finally, it’s a good idea to make good relationships with your teachers since you’re going to have to start thinking about letters of recommendation for college 😉
There’s so reason to worry. It’s a step up for sure (for me, mostly it meant more homework), but as long as you stay on top of your work and studying, you’ll manage just fine 🙂 good luck!

Thank you so much 🙂 I’ll keep that all in mind during the year.
