Okay, so I have no idea if there’s already a post for this on PI (post the link if there is!) But I was wondering on you guys’ opinions on piercings. I was thinking about getting my second set in my ears done, but there seems to be a lot of conflict when it comes to piercings. Any advice?

Personally, I think small hoops in the first hole and stud earrings in the second looks really cute 🙂 I love earrings because they’re so delicate…it kinda loses that effect after the second set, but that’s just my opinion. If you’re sure that you’ve given it enough thought, I’d say go for it! 🙂

Yeah do it! I’m getting mine done too next summer during the school holidays.

@Nino99 I ABSOLUTELY agree with you on that one! It’s nice to be able to wear a pair to compliment the first pair and still look rather elegant! @SimplyDivine I’m oo glad to hear I’m not the only one thinking of doing it then!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting your second hole done. I have my first and second done and I love it! It looks really cute to wear a pair of hoops in your first hole and a small diamond in the second. The only thing I dislike on the topic of piercings is that once you start to get other things pierced such as your belly button or nose it begins to look a bit trashy

Well I’m getting my belly button pierced and possibly my nose so does that answer your question? 😛 I also have 2 ear piercings and plan to get my cartilage done sometime. I’ve never heard of piercings being very controversial except when I was younger and involved in a really strict, legalistic, fundamentalist church.
I really don’t see how having a hole and a piece of jewelry in your skin make you morally better or worse.
I sincerely doubt Jesus is that concerned about that (having earrings) he seemed to be more concerned about oh, you know, loving other people, being patient, kind, non-judgmental, seeking justice…all that good stuff 🙂 Don’t get caught up in a bunch of legalistic rules, it’ll only distract you from the things that are actually important. Also, f you don’t like you can take it out and it won’t be noticeable.

I have my second piercings. I don’t find any problems with them in scripture. Jewelry was clearly fine in the Bible, and earrings are mentioned in passing in the Bible without any further comments. My one warning is make sure to clean them really, really well. I followed all the cleaning instructions with both of my piercings and had no trouble with the first ones, but I did have trouble keeping the second ones cleaning. They’re just more sensitive. Also, a little bit of blood appearing on your second ones is apparently pretty normal.

I feel like there’s a verse about it that I’m not recalling at the moment, but I could be wrong O.o I was homeschooled, and I have a lot of friends that are rather conservative in their beliefs. Some not being fond of even one set in your ears. So I was raised around the concept that piercing/tattoos are a huge deal. But I’m glad to see that it’s not quite as big of a no-no as I originally thought!

I think there is a verse about tattoos, I can’t think of one for piercings though. As far as tattoos go, I read that they were forbidden because people were using them in sinful practices…so it wasn’t the actual tattooing of your body that was bad, it was what was represented by those tattoos.

I was homeschooled too BTW! Homeschoolers FTW!

So my mother did extensive research on this when my sister asked to get her nose peirced. The only one she noticed was when God told them to remove the gold rings from Their ears and noses because they were using them as idols. I’m not sure where it was.

I don’t know if this would work because my mom’s closed up years later, but my mom wanted her second holes re-opened without re-peircing them and I was able to reopen them using a sewing needle and by massaging a little block of scar tissue out of her hole. It did hurt, though.
Your mom might be referring to the golden calf? That’s one of the only earring mentions I’ve ever found. They melted down earrings and other jewelry to make the golden calf, and then God instructed them to destroy all of the gold used for that because it was used to make an idol.

I have tried that, but the scar tissue is really big because I forgot to check then after a while after I changed them out so it got infected and that made it really sensitive. I am trying to use essential oils to heal it so we will see how that works .
I believe so. I’m unsure exactly.

Okay, quick question. Where do you guys think is the best place for sensitive jewelry? I’m highly allergic to nickel, but I REALLY like cute earrings! 😍
