I don’t get it. I have always been taught that to be a Christian, all you have to do is place your faith in Christ alone for your salvation. However, I read today that you aren’t saved unless you’re a ” radical ” Christian, meaning that you are totally on fire for Christ and would do absolutely anything for God. I Know that’s the way we should be, but let me be honest and say I might not do ” anything ” for anyone. A year ago I would have said I would do anything for God , but then something happened. I had this scary feeling that I should leave my family for several weeks to be a missionary in some poor place. Long story short, this scared me and upset me for many mamy weeks. I was terrified that God wanted me to leave my family. I cried all the time. I told my parents, and they and I both thought that wasn’t God speaking, and I have had that confirmed by people multiple times. But I was so worried that God would want me to do this to toughen me up or something. I still get scared of that and worry that God will call me to be a missionary and leave home for a long time. I’m so scared of God now, all because of that creepy feeling I had for one second. Anyway, I don’t know if I’m willing to leave my family, at least not until I’m an adult. But according to this person, I’m not a real Christian unless I am. That thought is driving me into despair. If that’s what I have to do, I don’t think I’m ready for that. But I do want to be a Christian and have a relationship with God. Sorry this is so long and confusing.

People try to tell us how Christianity is supposed to look. Guess what? Faith looks different in every single person. We are all unique therefore not all of us are going to be the same. Some are called to be missionaries and some aren’t. Some are called to be pastors and some people are simply called to walk with Jesus through life and let our light shine through our attitude and love.

Hey Gymastics14! It’s okay, have no worries about whether you are saved or not. As Christians we all have to deal with overcoming our fears during our lives, but that doesn’t mean you’re not saved. We are not perfect although we are Christian, so don’t expect yourself to be. Although we are new creations, we still have to go through the process of cleansing and perfecting through Christ. And also, just like Polka said, not all are called to be missionaries, so don’t worry about it. There’s a good chance you may not be called to do that, although it is good to be ready to do anything at all as Christians if God tells us to. The most important thing is of course your relationship with God and doing specifically what He called YOU to do.
God bless you 🙂
