Sometimes I forget what it feels like to truly breathe

-To not look up and ask “God, why me?”

-To remain focused on my Author

-To not wonder if I should’ve spoken softer

-To be content with who I am

-To wonder why I’m not eternally damned

-To fully grasp the extend of God’s grace

-To fully envision his perfect face

-To focus on today and not on tomorrow

-To let go of all my internal sorrow

-To long to go against the grain of society

-To not desire a life full of propriety

These things are what breathing means to me, not just physically how my lungs do or don’t collect air, but how my God and I make the ultimate pair.

How awesome that there’s another Christ-loving poet out there!! Your poem is absolutely splendid! Here’s one of mine called ‘A Saviour for the Broken’:

When the world outside is dark and cold,
When the streets I roam are gray and dull,
When the people I see are bitter and mean,
Or either they’re homeless and freezing, with nothing to eat.

When all hope is lost and when love is gone,
When their faith is dead and they have nothing to lean on,
When kindness is foreign and generosity is out of sight,
When there is nothing left for them to do but steal and fight.

When they need a saviour and the people start searching,
When the search comes to an end, and yet they find nothing,
When they give up on families, on friends, and on themselves,
When their jars of tears and sorrows fill up a thousand shelves

“Who will save us?” They cry, “What will be our refuge?
“Who will listen and understand our pains, and get what we’re going through?
“Are we forgotten?” They ask, “Are we rubbish left out on the curb?
“Why is no one answering us? Why has no one heard?”

When thought that all was left for dead, a mighty voice replied,
“I will save you, My broken people, I will not let you die.
“You are not forgotten or trash. I always considered you Mine.
“I was always going to save you, but it just wasn’t the right time.”

“Now I am here, My love, come crawl up in My arms.
“I’ve fixed your shattered world and now it’s safety is in My palms.
“I will always be here for you, darling, and don’t you ever forget it.
“You have My word, I promise, love. I always keep my commitments.”
