Ugh. You know how people say, “bad thoughts may come to you, but you don’t have to entertain them?” Well, that’s absolutely true, but I did. I not only entertained them, but by that analogy I invited them in for dinner and a movie.
Ok but seriously, I feel really…guilty and disgusted with myself. I dwelled on thoughts that were the opposite of pure, lovely and true and good. (Philippians 4:8). They were not only sexually impure, but just plain sinful.
I know God forgives me, but I still feel awful.

Hey girl! I have felt this way before! I think everyone who is a Christian has felt this way at least one time or the other. You should feel glad that you feel bad about entertaining these thoughts. Most people wouldn’t have that lingering guilt, but you do. I always pray about it and ask for forgiveness. Remember that it is a sign of truly trusting God’s salvation when you ask him for forgiveness, and don’t feel fear for hell fire, rather, you feel sorrow that you saddened God.

I know you probably think you are the only one, but trust me when I say that isn’t true. I think every Christian struggles at some point in their life with impure thoughts. And for most people, it is something that can happen on a daily basis. Remember that the thought popping into your mind can’t be controlled, but what you do with that thought can. When a thought comes into my head, I try to imagine myself dusting and cleaning the inside of my brain, and carting that thought off to the trash bin. (silly I know, but it works! XD SO DON’T JUDGE!!!! 😛 ) But when I allow myself to dwell on the thought, I feel guilty. I spend some time in prayer and read God’s word. And on those days when you really struggle, keeping yourself busy helps a lot. When I just can’t seen to get rid of those thoughts, I usually go for a power walk or do some other intense workouts while listening to uplifting music. And Nate is right. God does forgive. Hang in there girl!

Thank you! And that’s not silly, I usually do something similar 🙂 I just felt really bad yesterday because I knew what I was thinking about was wrong, and instead of stopping like I usually do if that happens I just kept on thinking about it.
And yeah, I had absolutely nothing to do yesterday and I was really exhausted. Both of those things probably contributed to it.

Dusting a thought off to the trash bin… I’m gonna have to start using that one. xD
