Hi girls – What are your views on marrying during college? I’ve had quite a few people tell me that trying to finish school while you are married puts a strain on the marriage and can be very challenging. I was wondering if any of you out there have actually gone through college while being married and if this affects the marriage and if it’s possible to make it work.

Personally I am waiting until after college to get married. But then again I don’t have a guy. So getting married while in college is impossible for me. Lol. To me, my career is most important. I want to be able to move to L.A. and pursue my dream of working at Disneyland and opening a vegan cupcake business (weird dreams) and not have to stop for a guy. I’m also waiting for a guy who is willing to let me pursue my dreams.

If you both want to make it work then by all means go ahead.

I’ve heard that married students actually do better in school, but i’m sure that it would be stressful to go to college while you’re married. I’m not, I don’t have a guy either, so I don’t have any personal experience. My brother’s fiancé is in nursing school. They’re getting married in March, and she’s graduating next year. I know she’s been really stressed and it’s put some strain on their relationship, but they’re crazy about each other, so i’m not sure what it’s like haha

My parents got married in college, and it can work since they’re about to celebrate their 30th. They’re both very in favor of marrying in college if you’ve found the right person because they say it’s really hard and distracting to wait once you already know you’re going to get married.

^ Same. If you know you’re going to marry that person, it’s really no reason to put it off just to take some classes. My college actually just made dorm rooms for married students, so they could still live on campus while attending school. Having children while in school, on the other hand…can be challenging. But it’s not impossible.
