^^^Exactly what the title says. I originally posted this in the College Forums but since some of you are in high school I thought you might be dealing with this too?? I’m actually not in school at the moment but I’m going back in the fall, and right now some of my coworkers are like this:
Ok, first off I don’t think legal age drinking is sinful, though I do think getting drunk is a mistake.
That aside, can we just discuss how annoying it is when people think drinking is the only way to have fun? To me, its so boring. Drink a lot. Get drunk. Seriously, why is that fun? There’s nothing to it. I can’t even imagine it being fun.
I want to go on adventures, explore, do something crazy (in a good way) use my talents, paint, be creative, lead a group, plan a trip, take a trip, have thoughtful conversations, volunteer, read, hang out with friends, do adventure sports, study scripture more thoroughly … but do something.
I like parties ok, but I don’t like to “party” if you know what I mean.
I guess it just bugs me when people don’t understand that.

Yes!!! Thank you so much for posting this. Both my parents are alcoholics/recovering alcoholics, and spending an evening getting drunk is soooo boring. There are so many better things to do with your time!
For parties, I like making mocktails. They’re fun and tasty. And, while I don’t have any problem with drinking (I’m old enough and, yes, I do drink sometimes), there are so many other drinks out there and so many more fun things to do than sit around drinking just for the sake of drinking.
