Of math.

Guys, how do I change my attitude towards this? I feel like being good (or at least better!) at math/algebra would be extremely helpful for my degree and for classes I want to take in the future.

But I’ve always been the type of person who’s like “Oh I’m so bad at math!” but I really think the reason is because I don’t try at it and I’ve been telling myself I’m bad at it for so long.

So. Any of you like math? Why do you like it? How can I get over this?! Thank youuuuu!

Well I love maths only when I understand the concept. I suggest liking the teacher for example I didn’t exactly loved my Further maths teacher and I failed horribly. But when I made a bit of an effort to get along with him (Today), the subject became super duper easy and I got all right. Also I think if you make out more time to practice and most importantly pray to Jesus for guidance. Fingers crossed this works!!

Soo…last year, I had a super hard time with math. Like my teacher suggested mid-year that I drop the course. But I really had my sights set on staying on track with my peers and didn’t want to drop the class and give up. I was seeing my teacher outside of class nearly every day with extra questions, and I got a tutor too. I figured out that, if I looked ahead before we covered the material in class, then I was far less lost in class. I worked really hard, and my teacher was even surprised at my improvement…and you know what? I actually LIKE math now. Maybe it’s because I know that, even if it seems way over my head, I CAN learn to understand it…and that’s an empowering feeling!

So I encourage you to go ahead and take math classes!…just make sure you don’t fall behind (in other words, if there’s something you don’t understand, don’t wait to get help). And hey! Maybe you’ll end up like me, liking math 😛

I used to be very behind and absolutely terrible at math. I was failing my math course in fact. I went up to the altar and asked my pastor to pray over my mathematics skills (I have no shame tbh, I go up to the altar for everything, mostly because I’m family friends with the pastor and I hang out at his house all the time). Next thing I know I’m getting A’s on my tests. I know, it’s not helpful, but worth trying! Maybe God will bless you with math skills! Sounds kinda dumb, but God does say “Ask, and ye shall receive.” 😀

I sort of love and hate math. I hate having to do it, but I love when I understand it and it works. 😀
…right now I’m procrastinating on physics homework, which is mostly just a bunch of math. …I don’t wanna do it. *whines*
But in terms of understanding it, Khan academy is useful. And having a good teacher is definitely useful as well. If you can look up your school on somewhere like ratemyprofessors.com, you can find what people say about each professor.
Basically, if you practice it and practice it, you’ll get better with it.

@Rainbowuni~Yessssss I feel the same way. I feel so smart when I do understand it lololol. And like I said it’s useful! I will check out Khan Academy.

Will O’Wisp~Thank you, that’s not dumb at all, and congrats on your test scores! I will definitely pray for understanding! 🙂

Nino and Teen~Thank you both! I think I definitely need to study harder 😛
