So, my drama class saw the Into The Woods recently in the theater and it was amazing! I already loved Into The Woods, and now I like it even more! Have any of you seen the movie! What did you think? I was thinking this could be a forum to tell about your favorite parts of the movie, favorite costumes, actors, songs, anything!

I loved Little Red and Cinderella’s costumes! Lilla Crawford is beautiful, for sure. I loved Jack too. His giants in the sky scene was glorious! I loved the Agony scene, where the princes were climbing the waterfall! I liked how they kept it PG also, especially with the scene with the baker’s wife and Cinderella’s prince. ๐Ÿ™‚ Anna Kendrick was amazing as Cinderella too.

I’ve seen it! I adored it to be honest. My favorite song was probably Agony, though, because it made me laugh SO hard, I was dying.
But yeah! It was really beautiful, aesthetically, and I thought the singers were all really good

Oh, I saw that movie a while ago with my dad! I loved it! My homeschool choir is singing “Children Will Listen” from the movie, so I’m excited.

Just at the mention of “Agony”, I’m just like “Chris Pine……”

The movie was amazing, although I’m super attached to the original play. I really loved the “Your Fault” scene. I thought they did a great job capturing the emotion.
AND MERYL STREEP OMG. She did a phenomenal job.
I was dying at the agony scene. They took it a different direction then the play, but they did an amazing job and made it hysterical.
I loved Anna Kendrick as cinderella, and whoever played little red riding hood did an amazing job. She was probably my favorite character.

I loved that movie. I think it felt a little to long even though it was only 2 hours. The music was AMAZING and my parents got the soundtrack. My favorite songs were Agony, Giants in the Sky, Steps of the palace, and Into the Woods. I think it would have been even better if it just ended with Cinderella getting married and everyone having their happy ending.

@Emily that is super cool! @Pink I agree…. We wanted to do a play of just the first act of into the woods with my drama group a few yrs ago, but it would’ve been illegal. :/ Especially since the director was Christian and she didnt wanna deal with the affair scene. The second act is so depressing! It would have ended perfectly at the end of act 1!

I haven’t seen the original play, but I loved the movie! Meryl Streep was fantastic (Obviously), and so was Emily Blunt!
Anna Kendrick’s cute, but her singing voice kinda annoys me for some reason that I haven’t figured out yet.
Lilla Crawford is gorgeous. Anyone know how old she is? I’m a terrible age guesser. XD

I’ve loved the stage musical for years and the movie was half-disappointing-half-awesome. I wasn’t impressed by the vocals, but that’s what I expected. No one really bothered me except Cinderella – her voice was pushy with no warmth or character to it at all and it definitely made “No One Is Alone” less moving. Red’s voice was probably the best – she’s an actual broadway singer. There was a lot less humor in the movie than in the original, which I did miss, but Agony was just perfect. I didn’t understand why they cut the Mysterious Man plot line. It was missing from the Baker’s character arc and having his father appear at the end for no reason made no sense. Also, the first time the Witch sings “Children Will Listen” (they couldn’t call it Lament because she wasn’t lamenting in this version) was just a lot less meaningful. I mean, it was nice for Rapunzel that she got to live and have a happy ending and her prince didn’t end up being a jerk, but the line in the song “children can only grow from something you love to something you lose” just didn’t have the same emotional impact. I also didn’t like the way they did Jack’s mother – I’d never seen her be so harsh. I know she isn’t supposed to be the nicest lady ever, but she does really love Jack. They didn’t give her a chance to show that before she died.
However, I still really enjoyed it. Seeing a show I know and love so well come to life was really exciting. And “Last Midnight” was EPIC.
This went longer than I intended…I’m probably WAY over-analyzing for this forum. Anyway. That’s my opinion. ๐Ÿ˜›

^THAT WAS IT. Cinderella was just kinda singing. She wasn’t feeling anything, she was just singing a pretty song. I think “On the Steps of the Palace” was her best song, some emotion came through.

I liked the change in Rapunzel’s story. Now, I haven’t seen the play, but I know what happens to her. ๐Ÿ˜›
In the play, the witch is proven right – the world was too terrible for Rapunzel. Her overprotective sucky ways seemed justified to her. The movie was the opposite though, Rapunzel did fine out in the world. Better than anyone else, heh. I thought “Children Will Listen/Witch’s Lament” went really well with the new story.
It was also nice that SOME of the characters got an actual happy ending. I like happy endings, though I would have loved the movie otherwise.

I thought Jack’s mom was okay. Like, she loved her son, but they were starving and her son is an idiot. So she was kinda exasperated, lol.

Favorite musical but… I haven’t seen the movie. partly because I don’t want them to ruin everything for me. I have every song memorized and listened to the sountrack my whole life./
