There are some Bible stories that pretty much everyone knows and that are preached on a lot. I thought it might be fun to start a discussion on some of our favorite underrated stories of the Bible. What are some stories you’ve read in the Bible that really said something to you or that you thought were really interesting that aren’t the commonly known stories?

A couple stories I’ve always found very interesting are Ehud (Judges 3:12-20), which I actually heard about in a sermon and hadn’t really remembered before, and when Ahab speaks to the prophet Micaiah about going into battle and then dies. They’re both really interesting stories, and I like reading about how God worked out the details in both of them, especially how Ahab died despite trying to thwart the prophecy.

I like the one about Jacob’s daughter, Dinah, and how her brothers defended her. Not many people talk about Dinah, but she was real!

This one isn’t a fun story, but it’s interesting to hear… Most of us know about Lot’s wife being turned to salt, but it’s not as well known that his daughters wanted kids, so they… I’m just gonna let y’all read it.

Oh, my goodness, yes! Talk about crazy! Okay, so now we have that out of the way, how about Judah and Tamar? It’s in Genesis 38.

Judges 4 with Jael! I love that story so much! It makes me think of Eowyn in the last Lord of the Rings 😀

Genesis 19:30-38 O_O.
2 Kings 2:23-25. I’ve always found this story so odd.

Most of us have read the story of Esther, but somehow it totally went over my head that Esther had to have sex with the king in order to become Queen, (it was kind of a sex contest if you think about it,) and the king himself slept with all the virgins of the land (Esther 2:12) that is simply creepy and disturbing.
Queen Vashti is too. When the king was “merry with wine” ie. drunk, and wanted to show her off like an object, she refused. (Esther 1:10-12) I think she was such a remarkable, strong woman.
