Something God has recently put on my heart is how so many of us Christians are completely missing the point, and I am one of them. I feel like I’ve become so focused on doing what’s right as a christian, rather than focusing on the most important commandment, to love the Lord our God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love my neighbor as myself. I’ve done the thing that I’ve always tried to avoid, worshiping as a christian as if it’s a religion rather than worshiping Christ himself. If I’m being completely honest, I think Project Inspired encourages this. While it is important to address topics that are related to faith, it’s more important to focus on loving God, and each other. If we focus on these things, the smaller topics such as what we wear or how we handle dating will make a lot more sense. If girls are just following these “rules” that PI is setting up, like I have been tempted to fall into, then where is the faith? Where is the encouragement to grow in your faith and figure out what you believe based off of this faith and love that you learn and experience? Many of the topics written about on this website can be very helpful, but I fear that we’re all missing the point. What if a non believer stumbles across this website and is only pushed into further belief that Christianity is just a bunch of rules to follow? Honestly, they would be right. Christianity as a religion is rules to follow, but Jesus isn’t. How about we learn to focus on Jesus, rather than whether or not skinny jeans are appropriate. Let’s decide to focus on loving each other rather than pressuring each other into following rules that our hearts don’t agree with. Let’s strive to align our hearts with our Creator’s own will. Then these things that feel tedious and judgemental now, will feel like freedom and obedience. Following God’s will for someone else isn’t fulfilling. What is fulfilling though, is growing closer to the God who loves us, and learning his will for ourselves.
Don’t get me wrong, I love PI, but I just can see big things happening if we are intentional about remembering why we’re here.
