I have made a decision that before I get married I will live on my own. In my own house. With my own career, dogs, rules etc. Why? Because in this society women are told that we need a man by our side to be independent. That we need a man on our arm to be happy. Women are viewed as humans that need to be cared for. And I’m just not ok with that. I don’t need man. I don’t need to be taken care of. I can take care of myself, earn my own money, and keep my own house. I’m not somebody’s property and I’m not somebody’s burden. Women are just as capable of achieving anything they want on their own.

I believe that you should do whatever makes you happy. Whether that’s marrying earlier or later. Just keep in mind that provung society wrong is not as important as your happiness.

You should do what is right for you, no matter what society says for or against it. And I must say, in my experience, owning your own pet that you’re making all the decisions for really grows you as an adult. I’ve heard it’s like having children and, while I’m certainly not ready for that yet, I believe it. Those furry ones will really make you grow. 🙂 (I’m a proud momma of two annoying guinea pigs who are nuts and serious trouble and I love them a ton and can’t see myself without them.)

You’re right! I voice the same opinion as yours. Girls are looked down upon as inferior beings and getting married seems to be the sole aim. We need to change this. You should listen to your heart and do what you wish to do!

@marcy I have a fur baby! His names Baloo and he’s an English cocker spaniel and I am completely obsessed with him!

That is great that you’ve got a new job and can move out. Aww, I love the name and I love cocker spaniels. I bet he’s a real cutie. 🙂 I’ve been feeling it a lot lately with my babies since they’re both relatively new (a bit over a year and almost 6 months) and the first ones I’ve gotten as adults, so I’m completely responsible for them. <3

I’m so glad that there’s another young woman who feels the exact way I do! I’ve always had the mindset that after college, I’d go to grad. school while living on my own with a job. If I get married, that’s okay. But it’s never been a priority of mine. I’m very happy for you 🙂
