I’ve read several Christian articles lately written by Christian men to Christian women (articles like “what Christian men want you to know”–not on PI but on different websites), and while some of the article are fine, most of them include a phrases like,
“Let us lead, it’s what God designed us to do!”
^^^^^Makes me so annoyed. No, God did not design every man to lead. Sometimes I don’t need or want a man to lead me at all. God has given us each gifts and talents (Romans 12:8) so both men and women can possess leadership ability.
Also regardless of whether you feel you have leadership ability or not there are times you will need to lead and times you will need to follow.
Another thing that annoys me just as much is the media’s freakishly hyped up (granted positive) reaction to female leadership. Not every woman is called to lead, just as not every man is called to lead. I’m glad many articles are pro-feminist, but some articles I read act as if every woman should be leading something.
Leadership is a responsibility, and one you should accept only if you feel you will do the most good from that position. Jesus demonstrated leadership perfectly–you are a leader to serve others, not to get an ego boost.

That is exactly what I’ve been thinking lately.

I’m so glad y’all feel that way! 🙂 I grew up in an ultra-conservative household where it was implied that it was wrong–if not downright sinful–for women to be leaders. Thankfully though, my parents have since grown in their relationship with God and no longer believe that (they’re actually very supportive of feminism now).
It bothers me so much though that there are people–Christians– who would attempt to keep women from using the gifts God has given them.
