How to Walk by Faith, Not by Sight

PI readers, have you been waiting on the Lord for something and haven’t seen anything happen, or felt you haven’t heard from God? This can be difficult or frustrating. There are times in life when we wonder if God is around or if there is any hope.

I want to encourage you that even when we don’t see God at work, He is always working behind the scenes! There are many encouraging verses about waiting on the Lord, being patient and persevering when we are going through trials. One of my favorite verses on this is in the book of Isaiah, chapter 40. It says,

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Vs. 30-31).

Another scripture that is powerful is in the book of Hebrews, chapter 11.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Vs.1).

I love this!! We know we can put our trust in God because He is faithful!

PI readers, I came up with a saying, and it is easy to remember when you feel discouraged. Just think, “When you have faith, God is FAITH-ful!” This is so true! Many times we may not get the answer we want, or may not see anything happen at the time we expected, but God always fulfills His promises and ALWAYS comes through! He is amazing and is Jehovah, which means “provider.”

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:13-14)

Here is a scripture that is so dear to my heart about God’s faithfulness!

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. There are new every morning; great is your FAITHFULNESS. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him’ (Lamentations 3:22-24).

God has proven His track record is beyond trustworthy, so whenever I doubt, I remind myself of all that He has done for me and for my loved ones. We need to rehearse the truth and renew our mind to continue believing and to keep the faith.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

Listen to Elevation Worship’s “Give Me Faith.” This is a great, beautiful, uplifting song!

PI readers, are you facing a situation where you have to wait on God? Have you had to in the past? Please share in the comments below!

I am in a situation where I am trying to wait on God. The hardest thing is that I just can’t hear His voice right now. It’s so hard to see His will. Except in the quietest moments, when I just hear what I know is actually Him. But when I can’t hear His voice, it is so hard!

Words can’t say how much I love this article!! I just went through a season in my life when LITERALLY all I could do is look up to the Lord. But He is faithful and trustworthy. If you give God the first of who you are, you’re gonna get the first of Who He IS! Whatever it is you’re facing in life or waiting for God to act, don’t necessarily be foscused on your situation, but look to the One Who’s in control of your situation. God has you here in your present circumstance for a reason. Maybe it’s to teach you something greater for your calling? But God rewards the faithful and remember He will never give you more than you can take. What we learn in the “waiting” is sometimes greater than the call.

Thank you for displaying this song! The lyrcis “My flesh will fail” struck deeply with me as I have been struggling with constant sin for a while. I have not been letting God prompt me to do better and this song and article reminded me to have faith and in return He will be faithful. God deserves my faith as a display of my honor towards Him. So thank you again!

There has always been a time that i have given up and said “i can’t do this anymore“. I’ve always relied on my mates to help me go through it. And there is a time that i had to wait and hope that god will help me through life. And i learnt that even if god dosnt work it out straight away he will make it better when the time is right.

One of my favorite verses when I’m struggling is Matthew 17:20
He replied, “Because you have so little faith, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

I have prayed a lot of time, what God wants me to do in the future, but it does just seem like he doesn`t answer me. No matter how much time I´m listening for His answer..

I know exactly how you feel! I’ve always been surrounded by people who seem to know exactly what they want to do with their lives… and then there’s me. I’ve never been absolutely certain of what I am going to do in the future… but one night God did give me a few hints! And I knew it was him speaking… it was amazing. So just remember… the teacher is always silent during the test! My mother would always tell me that he makes you wait to grow your faith, which is true! So when that revelation-moment does come, you will know beyond a speck of a doubt that it is Him speaking to you!!! 🙂

There have been many sistuations in my life when I have had to wait on God,and he always made a way. He dosen’t work on our time. He works on HIS time because HE IS TIME,and his timing is PERFECT! :)I am waiting on God to send me a job so I can help out with the Thanksgiving groceries and buying Christmas presents for my family. I’m getting a little depressed because I’ve filled out so many applications and I have not gotten a job,but I know God will make a way. He said HE WILL send me a job,and I sure do believe Him.

This came at just the right time for me. This is my junior year in college and still have no clue as to what my purpose is in life. I’ve honestly never really known what I’ve wanted to do when I was older, and I’ve felt for a semester now that I’ve kind of been in the desert waiting on what move God has for me next. It’s been a long wait. I had a breakdown today and was on the verge of not coming back to college my next and last year in college. I’m so close to graduating. But this article reminded me of what God has been telling me all this while, that he has a plan for me and that I should continue even when it doesn’t make sense, and even if at the moment i don’t know what it is. He’s trying to teach me about faith I guess, I mean that’s what faith is right.
