I Loved Kristen Bell’s Modest Fashion Inspirations at the CMT Music Awards

TAGS: , , , ,

I’m a country music fan, as some of you may know. And many–not all–country music artists glorify God in their music. However, I’m not as much of a fan of some of the immodest outfits that many of the female artists opt for. More specifically, the desire to show cleavage is a popular fashion trend.

Surprisingly, it was Hollywood that brought modesty to the CMT Music Awards this year. Actress Kristen Bell hosted the event with Toby Keith, and her dresses were so adorable, I actually was looking forward to each wardrobe change.

I’ve listed four of my favorites.

The following gold gown was my most favorite of my favorites. I love the glistening gold embellished design and how the material fits the figure without being tight. The cap sleeves and high neck are modest without being stuffy. The skirt flowing from mid-calf and the hint of a train are so subtle and elegant. It’s got all the right elements for glamour.

Bell’s silver, crystal-encrusted gown was another glistening ensemble, but with a floor-length straight skirt. This dress featured a one shoulder strapless design that looked very modest on her body type.

The following black chiffon gown was another stunning example of elegance and glamour. Straight black and to the floor, this dress featured a gold halter-style neckline that crisscrossed in the front.

How about this blush ombré dress? I thought it was so adorable and fun. The skirt could have been a tad longer, but it wasn’t so short that I’d call it immodest. And I loved the feather caplet covering the strapless shoulders. What a great contrast to the sleek, sequined fabric and simple design of the dress.

I would like to include two dresses that had the complete opposite effect on me. Where Bell’s dresses were modest and elegant, I felt these two were very immodest. But unfortunately, the design element featured is trending in fashion today, and all I can say is: eeeesh! It’s the plunging neckline. And both Kellie Pickler and Shawna Thompson wore the most extreme versions.

Of course, this style is a hit for red carpet fashion gurus, but personally, I think it’s ridiculous and so immodest. What’s next? Seriously! What’s left to take away?

PI girls, Bell’s dresses above demonstrate that modest clothes are so much more beautiful than immodest, no matter who’s wearing it. I pray you agree that wearing revealing outfits only sexualizes you.

So ladies, what did you think of my four favorite Kristen Bell fashion inspirations? Which is your favorite? Do you agree that modest is so much more beautiful than immodest?

Shawna always wears something low like that. To be honest, I really found the blue one she wore last year extremely beautiful, even if it was immodest. I don’t really like this year’s however, because the color is making her look very pasty in my opinion, and it’s not doing anything for her.

I actually like Kellie Pickler’s though! Which is something rare because I’m really not a fan of hers, but I think it’s much better than Shawna’s. It doesn’t look like if a gust of wind came it would completely expose her.

To answer your questions, I liked second and fourth dresses of Kristin Bell’s. I’m not a fan of the length on the second one, and I don’t really enjoy the heavy look of the caplet on the fourth. The first dress is absolutely stunning, and very Taylor Swift-esque. Which was nice seeing as how she wasn’t there that night. The third dress is probably my favorite however. :)

I do agree that most of the times modest is the most beautiful, but really it depends on your definition of modest and your preference. But I do think that some “immodest” things can be beautiful as well.

The dresses were gorgeous! She looked so amazing in them! I do agree with you that modesty is more beautiful than immodesty. The examples you have here are proof of that! I hate dresses with plunging necklines! They are pointless and look so ridiculous! It is obvious that dresses like that are to attract attention of a guy, and get media attention. It also shows how much skin you’re really trying to show! Gross! The modest dresses Kristen Bell wears make me want to find beautiful dresses similar to them online (even just to look at), because they are really cute! :)

I love the look of a flowing gown–so classy and ladylike!! I agree, her last dress is a little short. I’m extremely tall so it’s harder for me to find shorter dresses that don’t flash a ton of skin when I sit down or anything, haha. Great post!!

Honestly, the “plunging neckline” isn’t even attractive. I think it’s ugly.

Amen to this article! I love Kristen Bell’s gold dress… modesty looks better and IS better… besides, it gives you a better reputation as well! I just look at those other dresses and want to make an ugly face… But Bell’s dresses are proof that you can be beautiful AND cover up a bit!

I really like the second and third ones! Modest without being frumpy. Sometimes it’s hard to find that mix, but it’s a lot better to spend time looking for something nice than to wear something revealing like Pickler and Thompson did…

I hate how… ‘showy’ we are becoming. Stars and role models think it is cool or fashionable to wear things that are NOT good. Beautiful, modest dresses should be worn more often.
So before you put on the low tank top that shows cleavage and your stomach and those tight and very short shorts think about it and instead change your choices. God wants us to be modest and genuinely beautiful for what we are and what we do rather then what new way we can show off more of our bodies!

    I ♥ ✞!

I love how she can express her self without giving to the worlds demands

Modest is always more beautiful. A guy needs to love a girl for her inside and not her outside. I have a dress with a low neckline, but I ALWAYS wear a camisole underneath.

I love the black dress. Surprises me though, I’d never thought i see those kinds of dresses anymore. =D
