This year I attended an event hosted by the Plain Jane Project, a ministry about purity started by fashion designer and speaker Rowena Rodriguez. The PJP‘s mission is to encourage women of faith in purity and holiness.
PLAIN JANE PROJECT is a Christ-centered ministry that inspires through intergenerational conversations of empowerment, awareness, fellowship, and faith…These are confusing times where identity crisis overwhelmingly plague waking minds and hearts. Without action, the persistence of poor guidance in matters of faith, relationship, and self-worth will continue its ravaging toll on womankind.
It is also a place that
offers opportunities for all women to relate to one another in a safe, edifying, and thought-provoking environment. Through prayer, teaching, coaching, and mentoring we purpose to explore together God’s true design for – woman.
PJP and Rodriguez have been featured on JCTV and are partnering with other ministries in standing up for godliness and righteousness. One of the main scriptures they stand by is from Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
I love Rodriguez’s vision and passion for this generation, and her desire to see purity pour over our culture. We are definitely told to do the opposite in today’s society, and temptation is a struggle for many. PJP is a bright, unique ministry and is powerful for the young women of today and tomorrow.
In 1 Thessalonians 4, it says, ‘It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality, that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathan, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life’ (vs 3-7).
The PURI-TEA Party was held outside and was a beautiful time of fellowship, worship, wisdom, and growing in the knowledge of the Lord. Brittney ShaRaun, former contestant on America’s Next Top Model and a recent model on Fashion Star, was the guest speaker. ShaRaun shared her testimony and her journey of her faith and walk with the Lord. She shared encouraging words on purpose, getting out of our “comfort” zones and stepping out in faith and living the life God has designed us to live!
We need to go forth in boldness and to walk where the Lord wants us to go! Let us pray for direction and to bring glory to God’s kingdom in our goals, dreams and through our gifts!
Ia Jimenez is the vice chair of PJP and spoke as well. She shared a heart-felt personal story about her life, her walk in trusting the Lord and about being rebuilt. It led many to tears because it was so moving and touching. God can restore any situation, through His perfect timing and will! It was such a wonderful reminder of how God uses the things in life we don’t understand and makes them whole again! He is HOLY, He is worthy and He is beyond good!
You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:5-9).
A special part of the event was that we wore white, representing purity! I loved the idea and it was so fun to take pictures with the frames and with the ladies! The worship was wonderful as well–we were truly blessed with inspiring stories, the Word of God, wisdom from the speakers, fellowship, lovely desserts, tea, sandwiches, and, of course, so much joy in the Lord!
PI readers, do you have a purity ring? Are you staying pure before the Lord in thought, speech and action to the best of your ability? We love you so much here at PI and we are cheering you on! Comment below and let us know how we can be praying for you!
