Katie Holmes’ Simple Style is a Breath of Fresh Air in Hollywood
Written by T.M. Gaouette | November 2, 2012
Ladies, I’ve always felt that a simple ensemble is so much more chic than a glitzy one.
In the following clip, you can see Katie Holmes wearing a lovely, simple and inexpensive ruched black dress–well, $70 is inexpensive for Hollywood, right? She was attending designer Narciso Rodriguez’s Kohl’s Collection Launch Party.
Holmes paired her dress with nude shoes and a discrete clutch. Additionally, her hair is loose and her makeup is very natural. In every way, Holmes has kept her look unpretentious, and I love it. I think it demonstrates how the simple look is always so classic.
The other reason I love the simple look is because it allows people to see you. Your clothes should enhance and complement you. When you wear a busy outfit, too much makeup and lots of jewelry, you can get lost. People have a hard time looking past what you’re wearing. This is the same when it comes to modesty.
Holmes’ dress also is a modest length, it’s not tight and it doesn’t show cleavage, yet she looks elegant and feminine.
All too often, we see celebs who dress provocatively in order to get attention. They opt to bust out of their outfits in all directions, as if showing as much as possible–by wearing as little as possible–is necessary to remind everyone that they’re women and they shall not be denied attention. Well, they get attention, that’s for sure, but not in a positive way.
Ladies, we’ve discussed this many times on PI. When you dress provocatively, you attract those who are interested only in your sexuality. That’s what you’re promoting, as if that’s the only thing you’re about. And let’s be honest, who’s really noticing you when you’re sexualizing yourself?
I feel Holmes is a breath of fresh air in Hollywood. She seems obviously comfortable with who she is and is confident with her look. And that’s definitely something worth emulating.
When you dress simply and modestly, you allow your clothes to complement you, not hide you. And ultimately, people get to focus on you, not what you’re wearing (or what you’re trying to reveal with what you’re not wearing).
The other great thing about Holmes’ style is that it’s from the DesigNation collection by designer Narciso Rodriguez, and it’ll be available at Kohl’s this November! And we at Project Inspired love Kohl’s for it’s fantastic selections and low prices. Don’t forget to check out the special Kohl’s discount code for Project Inspired girls!
Ladies, what do you think of Holmes’ simple look?
