Kirk Cameron on Christianity: “Christ Is So Much More Authentic Than I Ever Thought He Was” [VIDEO]

Ladies, I found this awesome clip and I wanted to share it with you. It’s an interview with Kirk Cameron in which he discusses his conversion to Christianity.

Did you know that Cameron was an atheist before becoming a Christian? Listen to the story of his conversion, as well as his thoughts on glorifying God and Christianity as a whole!

I found this clip to be so insightful. Not just because Cameron became such a steward for Christ without any religious background, but because he was so strong for Christ at such a young age.

He was 17, an actor in Hollywood…a heartthrob at the time. He had it all going for him on this hit show, and yet he knew what he wanted to do. He knew what he needed to do. God came first.

The following statements caught my attention the most. I found them to be both profound and inspiring:

“What do I do? I’ve got Jesus Christ on this side saying ‘Do the right thing’ and I’ve got the producer in the studio on this side going, ‘Who do you think you are?’…I’m just a 17-year-old kid just trying to do the right thing.”

“As a Christian you realize that there really isn’t a neutral zone that you can hang out in…in your head you think there is…so that you don’t become an annoyance and cause trouble, and the goal isn’t to cause trouble, but if your goal is to honor God, you’re either on this side or you’re on the other side and Jesus said, in essence, you’re either gonna be for me or you’re not, and so that’s what I began to see happen, so the more I started to stand for what I believed was right, the more friction that would cause with the people that I cared about and there was a line drawn, and sides were taken, and it was unfortunate, but what are you gonna do? As a Christian you don’t have a choice. You either compromise or you stay true to your convictions. You can’t get the Gospel wrong. You can’t get the Gospel wrong.”

“Christiandom is not what I thought it was. The pastor down the street is having multiple affairs…you realize that there’s a lot of phony, there’s a lot of fake in the religion stuff, but I’ve also learned that Christ is so much more authentic than I ever thought He was, that He’s so much more pure and so much more necessary than I thought He was.”

Ladies, did you find this clip inspiring? What do you think was the most interesting or inspiring thing Cameron said and why?

Kirk is such an inspiration. Just imagine not having any religious background or experience, yet having that drive to do good and be righteous in the eyes of God. Absolutely amazing!

I don’t think we should look up to this man or give him this kind of attention/praise.

Love this interview, his comments are profound. This second quote especially came to me at just the right time, because I was invited to my friends sleepover who was a Christian but now is living with her boyfriend, she invited me to a co-ed sleepover (Girls and boys spending the night together), which I declined, but Kirk is right, there is no middle ground, there are just some things Christians shouldn’t compromise, and I will not compromise even if she is a friend.
