Megan Fox’s Tattoo Woes Should Make You Think Twice!

This is not the first time that Megan Fox’s tattoo has been a Project Inspired topic. Clearly her decision to memorialize Marilyn Monroe on her arm has proven to be a bad one.

According to a recent E! online story, Fox stated that her initial reasoning for selecting a Monroe tattoo was as a warning to herself not to be sucked into the devil’s playground. “It warns me not to let myself be treated so badly by the film industry so that it breaks me down,” Fox explained. But now Fox has decided that she no longer wants to have the tattoo on her body.

What should we learn from all this? Think long and hard about whether a tattoo is really what you want.

Do you truly know why you want to get a tattoo? Ask yourself these very important questions:

  • Are you only interested in a tattoo to be rebellious against your parents or to be cool?
  • Are you doing it out of peer pressure or to impress a boy?

If you answered “yes” to either or both of these questions, you’re doing it for the wrong reason, and will most likely regret it.

Remember – your body is a temple and you need to treat it with respect!

Nothing wrong with wanting to decorate your temple!

If I were ever to get a tattoo, it would be something small and meaning full, maybe my husband’s name, or ‘semper fi’ somewhere I can easily hide it, like my shoulder blade. But it’s something to think long and hard about.

I don’t enjoy self-inflicted pain, so i rather not get a tattoo, all the people that I know who get them all say it REALLY hurts..

I think there are some times where it might be okay to get a tattoo- I personally think that (in moderation) they’re cool. My youth leader and a friend of my dads both have quite a few tattoos, and at least one of them say something about their faith. My older cousins both have memorial tattoos about our late grandparents (one of them has one that i LOVE- Gumby attacking new york xD). I know now I sound relative, but I s’pose if the bible says so you should find other ways to express yourself…

My dad thinks it’s trashy but I think they’re beautiful when in moderation. If someone’s sooo inked up that you can’t actually see a free space of skin, that’s gross. But something small and unique like a rose is cool (:

THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH HAVING A TATTOO. A lady at church who’s husband is the music leader has the Christian fish tattoo-ed on her ankle. Lecrae, Tedashii, and some other Gospel rappers from Reach Records have 1•1•Six tattoo-ed on their arms–symbolizing Romans 1:16.

But in 6th grade I saw a couple leaders with tattoos on their arms at a youth group event and thought for a half-second that I had to have one. You don’t. It would be a cool way to show off your faith, but at the same time we all must remember that tattoos are forever. It’s not like getting your hair colored or your nails painted where the hair color fades away or you can easily get rid of the paint. This is a huge decision that you should think long and hard about. Because, like my mom has told me, think about how that tattoo will look when you’re the age of a grandparent. This is something that should be thought of for a very long time. Because what’s cool now may not be cool a decade from now

Isn’t that the same as having a memorial tattoo into your skin?

  8. Posted by on September 26, 2011 at 18:14

Tattoos are ok, but I prefer scarification.

Are tattoos sins? I have always wondered this! Can someone please answer that for me, with a verse?

Jesus doesn’t care if you have tattoos, he cares what kind of person you are. It’s silly to judge people based on body modifications.

i love that verse! this lady at my school always says that you should treat your body the way you might treat a favorite book or knick knack or other important object. she says that getting a tatoo is like putting graffiti on a church and piercings in weird places (anywhere other than some parts of your ear) is like puttin nails into the side for no reason.

Great! Thank you for helping me clear the air in my head! I have been wanting tattoos, as well. But you have jelped to see that every decision can come with a consequence.

Hmm im 17,and i have a tattoo. I have 3 small music notes behind my right year, becuase music is so important to me, its how i pray. No i dont reget it, i think that its simple, sweet, and easy to hide if needed. it wont effect my job or my schooling (i go to catholic school) becuase its out of site unless i put my hair up. I have my nose peirces and my lip,as well. I didnt do it to rebell, nor did i do it to impress anyone. when i go to job inervews i put clear peiceings in,as so they cant notice there there. I take good care of my body and respect it.I understand “we are the temples of the lord” i’ve heard it befor many times, but i live by no regerts :] im happy.

My uncle got a tattoo of his baby that died 3 days after it was born. It’s on his arm and everyone that sees him is like ” Why does he have a giant tattoo of a baby on his arm?! Weirdo.” I walk right up to them, even if they are strangers, and tell them the story. My uncle loved his baby so very much.

Megan Fox makes me sad…she’s so beautiful, but objectifies herself terribly in her movie roles. Hopefully this is a move towards a new image for her.

I would like to get a tattoo and a couple piercings. But I need something meaningful to get tattooed not just a tramp stamp or something. And I just want a lip piercing and 3 lobe piercings because I like the way they look.

    • Posted by on September 10, 2011 at 08:27

Hey. I probably wouldn’t get a lip tattooo. I read in a book that it’s acceptable when its your ear lobes, cause they don’t do anything, they just hang. but your lip has to do other stuff! like drinking water, eating, even using a straw! It’s your mouth, and this is just my opinion. 🙂

I have four tattoos and I absolutely love them. Will I regret them when I am older? No, because they will always remind me of a time in my life when I was younger and was expressing myself to my absolute fullest. My tattoos are very personal and very meaningful to me. I have thought long and hard about my tattoos before I got any of them. Of course, it comes with maturity. I am old enough now to know when to think twice about things and whether or not I should follow through with it. I am not against tattoos, BUT people should at least WAIT until they are a bit older to get one, ’cause a lot of times they ‘grow out of’ the idea of getting one.

  17. Posted by on September 9, 2011 at 08:41

and if you end up regretting it doesn’t it hurt having it removed? I’ve heard it hurts. And when people are older and well saggy then it won’t look good. I see no point in getting a tattoo and I won’t ever get one.

  18. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 20:04

    I don’t want a tattoo,becuase when you get old,it won’t look right,and besides,tattoos hurt!

  19. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 18:07

Super valid point. I don’t know if I’d ever get a tatoo or not. I know someone that got “Forgiven” tatooed on her inner wrist to always remind her of the cost Jesus paid for us. That was pretty cool. =) Do you think it’s a bad idea to get tatoos? I definitely agree that if you plan to get one you should think long and hard about it. But, if you’re 100% positive you want to do it, lol should you?

    • Posted by on September 9, 2011 at 21:28

Even if it is a tattoo of a Christian thing it is still wrong because you are changing Your body. Well, actually when you accepted God in your heart then it became God’s body. You can’t ruin God’s body. This is clear in the Bible. It never says “unless”…

Glorify God in everything you say and everything you do.

Leviticus 19:28 “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”

  21. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 16:13

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with getting a tattoo, but I wouldn’t get one because I just don’t see the appeal.

  22. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 15:44

Thank you for posting this!!! I think everyone even merely “interested” in tattoos should read this!

  23. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 15:36

is the picture on the left after she tried to have it removed?

  24. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 15:21

Another verse is Leviticus 19:28 it says, “You are not to make gashes on your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the LORD.

“…for the dead.” This OT reference is in regard to pagan rituals that prohibits heathen worship and witchcraft.

  25. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 14:56

yes! i have a friend who keeps talking about wanting tattoos and piercings (she already has three in each ear) and i know its because shes rebelling. she would ask us whether or not she should, and then when we give our opinion (she shouldnt because her parents said no, that just doesnt fit her style) then she goes and does it because she cant stand someone telling her their opinion, she has to rebel against everyone

  26. Posted by on September 8, 2011 at 14:52

Thank you for posting this. It makes me feel much better about wanting to/not wanting to get a tatoo. YOu see I want to get a small little tattoo of my symbol/crest somewhere on my body to show my mark and such… and this article has made me feel better about that desicion. It is not to impress my friends and it is not a rebellion ethire. (besides…. my symbol is the size of a quarter!)
