Model and Airplane Accident Victim Learns to Live “By Faith, Not By Sight”

Model and fashion blogger Lauren Scruggs was involved in a horrific accident last December when she accidentally walked into the propeller blade of a private plane. Scruggs has had a long road to recovery and healing–she now has a prosthetic hand and eye.
“Even though I’ve lost my left eye, I’ve just realized the Lord has a strong purpose in it, and I need to use that,” Scruggs said. She is currently writing a book called Still Lolo about her miraculous story of survival. Scruggs is a fighter, and throughout her accident, her faith in God has been what keeps her going.
She was interviewed on the Today Show during the London Olympics, where she stated that Christian gymnast Gabby Douglas is her role model and inspiration.
During the interview, she received a special surprise visit! Watch the video below to see the exchange.

If you didn’t catch the original story, you can click here. I pray that through Scruggs’ book, she touches the lives of many people who are going through a recovery, or simply someone who wants to learn more about God’s provision.
Are you inspired by Lauren Scruggs, girls?

That’s amazing. I’ve never heard of her, but since you told us about her, I want to see what her book is going to be like. God bless!
Wow that is so awesome that Gabby Douglas and I think Alex Morgan? came to see her. And I think that is awesome that Lauren is so courageous in the Lord in the ways of being able to keep on living for him even after that horrible accident, and continuing to be active in spreading his word. She inspires me to be as courageous as her.
I remember seeing this story on Yahoo! It’s so good to know that she’s doing well, and ESPECIALLY that she’s found God! X3
Love it!
Nicole, I really love your blogs.
You sound so selfless in them. You don’t look for the bad in people. You don’t judge. I love it. I really think this is inspiring. People like Gabby and Lauren and you, Nicole, are absolutely inspiring! <3
I heard about accident a while after it happened. The news showed Scruggs live at a local event with an eye patch and a big bandage on her wrist. God answered my prayers once again! When I saw her, I prayed that she wouldn’t hold this against God. I also prayed that it would cause her to grow in Christ! Hurray! Gabby Douglas is my role model as well.
She is such an inspiration and especially in her faith in the Lord. <3
Inspiring story. Everyone needs to read this.
This story really means a lot to me. Last year my biology teacher told us about his friend who was a model and had been hit by a plain’s propeller. I later found out it was Lauren. I’m so glad to see that she is doing well and staying strong in the Lord. I’m sure the news is comforting to my teacher as well, since they were friends. God is good!!!
