Morgan Freeman’s Voice Will Be Used to Tell ‘The Story of God’ (Again)

Morgan-Freeman

Morgan Freeman, the actor that’s played God in more movies than we can recall (props to anyone who can name them all…without cheating!), will be hosting a new show on National Geographic called ‘The Story of God’.

Through the show, Freeman will visit religious sites like the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, the Bodhi Tree in India, Mayan temples, and the Lakewood megachurch in Texas. Traveling with archeologists, he’ll examine ruins and artifacts to help tell the story of God, while also looking at areas of study like neuroscience and cosmology and how they play into religion. – DigitalTrends

This show couldn’t come at a better time. Our TV screens have been flooded with senseless reality shows like The Bachelor and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Sure, they keep us entertained but they provide very little value. It seems like all they do is suck up all of our attention and leave little room to spare for God. That is why we are so excited about Nat Geo’s new show. TV + God makes for a winning combination in our book! But seriously, there’s just so much mystery and wonder surrounding God and the Bible and it seems like this show will open our eyes to stories, places and people we never knew existed.

“The story of God is one of the greatest mysteries and most important ideas in the world. For me, this is a personal and enduring quest to understand the divine, and I am humbled by the opportunity to take viewers along on this incredible journey.” – Morgan Freeman

We’ll definitely be tuning in! Will you?

Sounds interesting, but since other non-Christian places are mentioned I’m pretty sure the show is just going to summarize belief systems in general. And I have nothing against megachurches, but I feel like this show might point out all of the flaws of “popular Christianity” instead of point out the diverse history of Christianity since Jesus’ time. I just hope words like “prejudice” and “ignorance” aren’t used to define Christians as a whole!

I LOVE MORGAN FREEMAN. But he thinks that he himself IS GOD. He’s said it in a few interviews. The reason why he plays God in movies, is because he literally thinks he is God. He believes that he is his own God. (He said it himself, just look it up.)

But his acting and his voice are amazing. I’d love to see this show!

While I get excited that TV does shows like this (History Channel did one about Jesus awhile ago), I also get concerned because it is secular people trying to explain the Bible, Jesus, and God. Too often, I’ve seen them get it wrong. So I’m always hesitant with shows like this.

You got that right. I was a little surprised that a Project Inspired contributor seems supportive of the show and implies that the rest of PI does as well. O_O
