My Favorite X Factor Contestant, Christian Singer Melanie Amaro, Wins!

Melanie Amaro

I am so happy that Melanie won! I posted an article about her a month ago expressing that she was my favorite X Factor contestant because she is an openly proud Christian! Melanie Amaro, the Christian singer who attends “The Faith Center” in Sunrise, Fla., beat the contestants and became the first “X-Factor USA” winner.

The 19-year-old won a recording contract worth $5 million with Sony Music and will appear in an original Pepsi commercial, putting her among music superstars like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears.

Throughout Amaro’s time on X Factor, she never hesitated to give glory to God or mention her faith. During her last performance, the show interviewed fans and friends that assembled in the church where she sang before becoming a household name.

It was only fitting that Simon Cowell, producer of the X Factor, served as Amaro’s mentor throughout the show.  She defeated runner up Josh Krajcik and singer Chris Rene came in third place.

Those who missed the Season One X Factor USA finale may watch both nights in the video player to the left. Make sure to watch the first video, which is Amaro’s $5 million song, “Listen” by Beyonce. Immediately after the performance, judge L.A. Reid said that “Listen” was Amaro’s $50 million song.

Additionally, Fox All Access caught up with Amaro after her performance on Wednesday night’s finale show. They asked her, “What did you feel after leaving the stage tonight, and how did that compare to what you remembered feeling the first time you left that stage after your first audition?”

Amaro answered, speaking about performing “Listen”: “Tonight’s performance was a reflection of the journey I’ve been on, from my first audition, until now.” Continuing, she said, “I think that you can hear from my first audition to this one that my voice has grown, my confidence has grown, and I just boosted to a place where I am happy. I feel so loved and so supported by everyone. I feel so honored to be here.”

Melanie was then asked how it felt to see her friends, family members, and supporters in her church. She humbly stated, “I really, honestly did not know that I had that many supporters.” Melanie continued speaking about performing in her church, saying, “I have performed in that church many times, and I love my church. They are all supporting me and I love them so much. Thank you so much for believing in me.”

Her pastor Henry Fernandez clearly expressed his belief in the 19-year-old, who has been compared to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. He spoke of God’s gifting on her life and said, “To know that someone who has graced this stage and now God has placed her on a national stage, it’s amazing.” He correctly predicted, “Oh absolutely, Melanie’s going to win it. You can’t be at the Faith Center, a part of a faith church… hey, I have faith she’s going to take it home.”

Check out Melanie’s powerful performance of her finale song “Listen”!

Do you think Melanie should have won X Factor? If not, who did you want to see win?

She won because it was in God’s plan! I am so proud of her. She is compared to Mariah Carey, who is my all time favorite singer,I’ll definitely give her a listen.

Hopefully she’ll continue to use that great voice to glorify God. And not to sing about some man. Praying for the best. :)
