Christian Life

My New Year’s Resolution is to Walk the Walk Like Justin Bieber and Other True Christians!

justin bieber gives to charity

I’ve written a few posts on celebrities giving back. Timberlake Gives Back and it Changes His Life, Christian Acts of Kindness are Taking over Hollywood, and Who is Tim Tebow and Why is Everyone “Tebowing”? are posts that all relay wonderful stories of celebrities doing good deeds for others.

Justin Bieber is also known for doing many charitable acts. This Christmas he went all out. Take a look at the following news clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iouUk1KMfU

With 2012 coming up fast, I’ve been thinking about my own New Year’s resolution. I know we shouldn’t wait until January 1 to adopt good habits. And I know that we should continue to improve ourselves as Christians throughout the year. However, the New Year is always a great time to reevaluate your priorities.

I’ve written posts about “walking the walk,” and when I see celebrities doing it, they inspire me to do the same. Walking the walk includes giving back, and that comes in many forms. It can be a matter of volunteering time or giving items or money to those in need. It can also be as simple as helping a friend. Whatever the need, the act is just a part of walking the walk as a Christian.

Walking the walk also includes glorifying God in everything you say and do, and again I resolve to do that more passionately. As a mother, wife, friend, and teacher (I homeschool), I will glorify God. I will “walk the walk” in every other capacity that I may find myself in.

So that is my resolution. What about you girls? Are you making a New Year’s resolution, and if so, what is it?

If you’re gonna bash Justin and try to guess what’s in his heart then you mine as well check your own. It’s ridiculous of you to bash him like that. He really has done some great things and even if he doesn’t always walk the walk he thanks God and Jesus Christ for what he’s been given. And don’t bash the woman who wrote this article. She brought up something’s he did. She didn’t call him a saint. Chill out.

Ever thought he only did the album for a show? And the album is more about KISSING than Jesus, the real reason for Christmas. And his song, “Mistletoe” is only about finding the girl he wants to kiss.

People, stop all the negative comments. We don’t know how close Justin is to God, but you should seriously respect him for evangelizing to so many people. Stop hatin’. That’s what God wants.

    I have a couple…
    1) Become closer to God
    2) Have more faith
    3) Do better in school (mostly math)
    4) Be not so caught up in celebrities & social media type things (big distraction)
Also I like your new year resoulution too!
Justin Bieber inspires me not to give up and also to always stand up for your faith…if JB can do it in front of the whole world then I can do that in my school. His mom also is such an inspiration her story made me cry :’)

I don’t know…I haven’t really looked into many celebrities faith. I want to get closer to God and stay focused for the new year.

Justin Bieber is not christian ……he obviously sold his soul to the devil ! I mean , look at all the celebrities he hangs out with and makes songs with. Yes he may have been christian when he wasnt in the music industry, but being in the music industry changes everything.

ok lets just stop right there ! yes its true that many celebrities have sold their souls but let me guarantee you maam that Justin Bieber is NOT one of them ! He is one of the truest Christians and overall wonderful people i have ever encountered ! hes an AMAZING role model for everyone as well ! Many pastors have written articles of how much they like him and how hes helping the world and i dont know if you know this but a famous christian author has written a book ALL about him called “BELIEBER: Faith,Fame and the heart of Justin Bieber” and its so inspiring and beautiful ! He has such a beautiful and charitable heart ! He prays thrughout the day everyday , his faith is strong and his bible is essential to his life! Hes not ashamed of his faith and he was raised a Christian and is strong in his faith ! He has given so much to the world and helps so many people everyday and also just because people are in the secular music world doesnt mean theyve sold their souls to the devil ! Mrs.Pattie (Justin’s Mom) prayed before they accepted any offers when he was just getting started and asked the Lord to send them a Christian label for Justin to sign with but the Lord said no that he wanted Justin in the world so he could shine the light and glorify him so thats the way they went ! And yah know what just because he hangs out with certain people and does songs with them doesnt mean hes a bad person ! Hes actually a great influence on those people and all of the songs they do together he always makes sure they are good and clean ! annnnndddd he is making a very christian and inspirational album called BELIEVE thats set to release in March and virtually all of the proceeds will go to charities around the world almost 10 million dollars worth! and BTW your saying hes not a true christian but please tell me how judging others and saying such nasty things about them is “christian behavior” , youve never met him and you dont know his heart so you have absolutely NO right or proof to say these things and back them up ! So just so were clear here, Justin Bieber is an AMAZING Christian, he has not sold his soul and as he has stated many times, he never intends to . think before you speak please :) God Bless.

Umm just bcuz u hang out with non Christian plp doesn’t mean your not a Christian…plus everytime in interviews when he is asked about his Christian faith he is not ashamed…so yaaa…plus he refuses to do certain things in songs..he makes mistakes…I give him props he is really standing firm in his faith…He has a travel pastor with him, when he does homeschool his teacher is a Christian so they go over Bible verses… Plus his mom has a really good testimony of how she came to God… So I think he’s still a Christian but remeber nothing can separate you from God…He’s just a growing Christian like all of us…and who knows he could be WITNESSING to his non Christian friends

Making songs with non-Christian artists doesn’t mean he’s sold his soul to the devil. Maybe that’s his way of getting closer to them so he can evangelize to them. I have to admit, I’m not too sure if I believe he’s a christian or not, but we all make mistakes (that’s y Jesus had to come to Earth). We are SUPPOSED to hang out with non-believers, otherwise, no one would hear the good news.

I agree. Many celebrities sell their soul to the music industry, and in turn get more fans. Have you ever wondered “This person does not make good music. Why are they famous?” All the record sales are faked. Plus you have to sacrifice a loved one to prove you want fame. He can claim Christianity all he wants, but once you sell your soul, it’s over.

It’s not over there is no where in the Bible that says you can’t repent of doing that…plus there is something about Justin that draws Christians… it’s how he is not ashamed of his Christian faith…plus how is he suppose to minister to plp if he is not hanging out with non believers…
        So here goes…
        1) Justin’s mom Pattie had a great encounter with God watch her interview on YouTube
        2) Justin confessed he believes that Jesus died on the cross for our sin
        3) He has a travel pastor with him while he is on tour
        4) His homeschool teacher is a Christian and they go over Bible verses
        5) He has good values…he wears a purity ring…
        6) He may make mistakes but no one is perfect except for God
        7) his whole journey to where he cane from was based on God’s plan… If you look at interviews with his mom ( there on godtube.com just search Justin Bieber ) she didn’t want Justin to do this but God told her it was His plan… She was gonna put him in Christian music industry but God wanted Justin somewhere else so he can be a light for Christ
        8) He got mad when all the paps where bothering him by following him to church when he was trying to get close to God
        9) He prays everyday and is not ashamed of his faith…
        10) he said that he will not let the world change who he is… for example he was doing a photoshoot and they wanted him to do something that he knew was not good so he said no he wants to be a good example
So…again Im pretty sure he’s a Christian but only God knows.

So judge him all you want

Honestly, I question wether Justin Beiber is a true Christian. Being charitable and doing good deeds doesn’t make you a Christian. He believes that “you should not have sex with anyone unless you love them.” He did not say you should wait until marriage. Young girls always think they “love” their boyfiends. Ror them to walk like Justin would mean the potential of having pre-marital sex. After looking at some of your post Mrs. Gaouette, it seems as though you glorify Justin Bieber and bash the Jonas Brothers, and that is not fair. No one is perfect, not even the Jonas Brothers or Justin Bieber, I understand this, I think you understand this too and should make it more clear in your posts. If you want to write about a celebrity and walking your walk like his, try writing about Jesus. After all, God gave Him as a PERFECT example of how we should live our lives.

Justin does not ALWAYS walk the walk. His mother definetely does. But he does thank God and Jesus Christ repetetively for the opporutnities he’s been given. It’s hard to keep your head on straight in hollywood. Don’t be so quick to bash Justin or the Jonas brothers or even the one who wrote this article. She’s only giving examples of kind acts. And Jesus is always written about as the ULTIMATE example.

Huh? Which of my posts “glorify” Bieber and “bash” the Jonas brothers? Have you read my Q/A post, Are the Jonas Brothers Still Good Influences?” It ends, “you shouldn’t strive to be just like the Jonas Brothers, but rather, look to Jesus also. It’s better to emulate the best than emulate someone who’s trying –not always successfully- to emulate the best.”

Second, I have read your Q/A post. Just because it ends the way it does, does not mean it didn’t bash the Jonas Brothers. Have you read the comments. Several girls feel the same way I do.

I love it- I need to be easier on myself and less critical of me and others. I have been keeping a quick prayer journal for months now. I started to write one praise and one prayer a day. (now i do like 5 each). Also (random) I resolve to stop chewing my fingernails- it’s a nasty habit!
