Kate White Says “Be Careful What You Text, Tweet or Blog!” Yet Feature Model Is Sexting In Lingerie
Hey girls! So our petition on change.org is growing! Now we have over 10, 700 signatures and we’re just getting started.
If you want to continue reminding Kate White (Editor-in-Chief of Cosmo) that her material should NOT be available for children, you can comment on her page here.
This new November issue with Nicki Minaj on the cover is HORRIBLE. You know why? Not only do they feature sex tips (as always!) but the layout in the magazine features a girl in lingerie taking pictures of herself with her cell phone acting like she’s sending them to her boyfriend! That is so ironic, you know why? In the beginning of the magazine, Kate White writes a letter to the readers and says:
She writes, “These days, it’s really important to be aware of exactly what information – personal and otherwise – is out there about you. Even though most of us are careful about what we put on our facebook page, we’re not aware how easy it is for the “wrong” info to sneak out in other ways.” Then her contributing writer goes on to write, “It’s not just what you send or post about yourself, it’s what other people send or post about you. For instance, let’s say you’re at a crazy party. You wouldn’t put up a picture of yourself from that night, but someone could snap a photo of you and put it online. Be mindful what you tweet, text and blog.” – Pg. 20 November issue
And yet, their featured model for their layout is taking a picture of herself with her phone, about to text or tweet!
I’ve received hundreds of letters from you girls, and each time I have mailed them to Jon Leibowitz, the Chairman of the FTC and to the Senator of California. (they both have the power to push legislation that will force Cosmo into a nontransparent wrapper!)
I’ve heard from girls as young as 11 years old who have read the magazine and have felt pressured to engage in sex acts. Let’s face it: Cosmo’s content is inappropriate for young eyes, and yet the magazine is out there for anyone to see in grocery store checkout lines and many other venues. That’s why I want it to be covered by a nontransparent plastic just like a porn magazine would be, and only sold to adults.
Please, please girls write me a short note on why you believe it should be sold in a nontransparent wrapper – I’m mailing all your letters out every two weeks. And please SIGN THIS PETITION!! When we have enough signatures, it will really get their attention to make the change! It only takes one minute, (you don’t have to input your real address if you don’t want to) and you will be a part of history with this huge movement! I appreciate it so much, God will greatly bless you for helping out! He says:
“Let each of you look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
Here’s a picture of Jon Leibowitz. Pray that he notices us and takes action against Cosmo and puts it in a nontransparent wrapper, sold only to adults!

you know what, these things disgust me soooooo much sometimes, i just want to say, “get a life!!! cuz the one you’ve got ain’t living.” but i think, really, that we oughtta say “get Christ! cuz we sure as anything know we each need Him!”
Im totally the same way. Its GROSS. They need to get a life.
Yes!You’re sooo right!
I mean lizziedee. heh,heh
I want to say one thing: Why would you want adults to be looking at this magazine either? It’s bad enough for young girls/teenagers to be but it’s not good for adults either…just sayin’
hi sunshinelilygirl!
Lots of my pi friends asked that too. I think it should be aloud to be sold to adults because:
*Teens are still young, they are bound to make mistakes. Adults are ( ussually ) mature.
* Married adults can have sex.
* Cosmo is not just about sex- they may choose to buy to buy it to read the other articles.
* Adults are responsible mfor their own action- if they choose to engage in bad behaviors, its their fault.
Hope I anserwed your question!
Again how does reading a magazine pressure someone into a sex act? Also there is a very clear disclaimer on the photos that those are just models. The story is about people sending racy photos – why does’t that make sense.
I agree so much with what you are saying!!!!!!!
I hate this kind of stuff! It is disgusting to know that people would actually put sex stuff in magazines, but isn’t that the “world”? I sometimes do get annoyed with the world for showing bad things to us openly, and they don’t even think about how it can make kids want to do those bad things. Let’s stop this bad mess by starting with signing the petition!
I agree that this stuff should not be shown to young children. This is gross for even teenagers to see, because guys go home and do who knows what with it, and girls go home and worship it to try and look like that. I don’t like this at all! I am soooo signing that petition!
@sunshinelilygirl, There’s no way we’ll be able to make them stop selling the magazine altogether, but at least getting it where only 18+ can buy it will help stop it from harming young girls. Sure we all wish NOBODY could buy it, but that’s just not going to happen, they can sell whatever they want. But when it comes to minors buying sex tips, we can have our say.
This is a good magazine! Who doesn’t like sex? God does.
God doesn’t like premarital sex. He CERTAINLY doesn’t want young girls having sex, and that’s who Cosmo is visibly targeting too. Sex is a gift God gives to married couples.
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins people commit are outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (TNIV, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
If a girl is Christian enough, it shouldnt matter! Seriously. Its not full nudity, and seriously, its targeted towards adults. Putting it into a wrapper would take sales down or up. i feel it would make people feel like what they are buying is dirty, or the other side is it could make people more curious to what it says.
this is SOOOOO bad! no one but us are taking action. i totally agree with this, this is hypocriticsy at is PEAK. Satan knows just what to do to push people away from faith, but its not going to work on us,cause the devil is strong, but God is STRONGER! and whats even worse is Michelle Obama isn’t taking action to this, she’s too busy promoting a “healthier lifestyle.” anyone agree? lets fight for OUR rights as Christians, ant take a stand against Cosmopolitan Magazine! with Jesus,we can conqour this!!!! (i went too far didn’t i?)
why would cosmo even print these things? what is SO ATTRACTIVE ABOUT SEX?!?!!??
uggh that is SO hypocritical!!!!!!!!!
Kate White makes me mad
>:(
