The Before and After Files #4

TAGS:

This is the same dress as you saw in my “before and after” from last week, but you’ll see something revealing in the shot here: The waspish waist the photographer created with a little Photoshop magic.

The ironic thing is: I think my waist looked pretty good in the “before” shot! Goes to show that even though something may look fine for your own expectations, the media creates something almost entirely unrealistic to aspire to.

  1. You look so much healthier in the first picture!! I wonder how many supermodels in magazines are as malnourished as they look…

  2. you definetly look better in the first one and im not just saying that to be nice. I like the dress in the first pic because i think it looks cuter in gray than in black. i also think that your hair in the first pic looks more artistic and makes you look like a model

  3. I thought the left picture was the photoshopped one! lol the left one looks better

  4. The photo shopper (sp?) doesn’t know how attractive a tan is. He (or she) made you pale.

    • Project Inspired Member

Have you noticed that a lot of models are more pale than tan? It depends on the shot you do: If your doing a beach shot, then they are going to tan you.

  5. I used to be recommended this blog via my cousin. I’m no longer certain whether this submit is written by means of him as nobody else recognise such detailed approximately my trouble. You are incredible! Thank you!

  6. I can’t believe how much a computer can change how you look. Personally, I think the first picture is so much better, because it is real. Everyone is beautiful, though no one is perfect. People who publish magazines obviously think differently.

    • Project Inspired Member

I think people who are trying to sell things are more on the terms ‘what will sell’ rather than ‘what would benefit girls’ :D

      • Project Inspired Member

        Sad but true.

  7. I’m slightly horrified by the amount of cleavage shown in this for you being such a Christian woman :/

    • Project Inspired Member

      I agree.. :/

    • Project Inspired Member

I agree as well, the Bible tells us we should be modest and cover ouselves.

      • Project Inspired Member

I was just about to post something along the lines of that, I’m glad I’m not the only one who found that amount of cleavage a bit questionable…

      • Project Inspired Member

I think it’s perfectly fine. Nothings showing, nothing’s being revealed. At least she’s not wearing something along the lines of what Nicki Minaj wears, or what Lady Gaga wears, or even J-Lo on that one awards show (that I completely forgot the name of lol)

    • Project Inspired Member

I was just thinking that. I mean, it’s not OVER the top, but on her most recent blog about the red carpet modesty..? I found it to be clashing with what else she is trying to teach.

    • Project Inspired Member

i do think this is a little bit much for me personally but everyone has different standard what is ok for me may not be ok for someone else, also it depends on where your wearing it to and who for ect.,

    • Project Inspired Member

Yeah, a BIT TO MUCH was shown in that photo. In my opinion Christian girls should not scow cleavage at all. Just a thought. These are gourgeous photos Nicole!!!! The fist was much better though!

      • Project Inspired Member

I agree that this photo is definitely not modest. Sorry Nicole, but what are we girls doing to the guys around us? We must be careful not to be a stumbling block in what we wear.

      • Project Inspired Member

        Amen sister!

  8. yeahh your so christian . this entire website to me is gossip about how bad everything is . yes the media is terrible and yes there are alot of satanic msgs in everything but what are you doing ?? your getting your picture made in a skimpy shirt and letting them “fix” your body . your just as bad as the rest of them . so maybe you should start practicing what you preach .

    • I love you but i have to agree:(

    • Project Inspired Member

      I totally agree!

    • Project Inspired Member

The reason she will do these pictures is to show us the amount of ways that they can change the real and how fake the images we see are.

    • Project Inspired Member

I don’t agree and I don’t want to start a fight but what I pointed out is how judgmental you’re being. I don’t think you had to point out every little detail and I don’t think you had to be so sarcastic, saying, “Yeah, you’re SO Christian!” Yes she had a little cleavage, but because of just that picture you didn’t have to come down so hard. All of the bloggers are trying to WARN us about things like, “Lady gaga and Her Satanic Message” and how bad Cosmopolitan is. It ISN’T gossip.

      ~God Bless~

    • KBP98

Who are you to judge her. If you have any faith you should probably know that judgement is just as bad as anything else trashy you want to throw at her. Oh and FYI Christians don’t have to have long skirts, Hand folded, and acting like they are better then everybody else. People like that are the kind of people Jesus warns about in the Bible. some outfits may seem wrong to you and fine to her, that does not make you better then her. Stop this judgemental crap. No wonder people hate Christians.

      • KBP98

I completely agree with faith244. WAY TO GO GIRL!

    • Project Inspired Member

      I agree with Kady.

  9. bearcrab

Now i wonder what people in magazines really look like!!!

  10. Project Inspired Member

I really do like the first photograph better. I think if I had my picture taken, and my picture ended up different in a whole different way, I’d have some issues lol. I Mean, they both look great, just you look so much healthier in the first one. And in the second one, you almost look dead because of your skin tone.

  11. Project Inspired Member

love the first pic so much better!!!!!

  12. Project Inspired Member

*sigh* Why does society have to do this? It is not helping our current situation with all these girls wanting to change themselves and be “perfect”. A lot of the time, it goes to the extreme anyways. It’s dangerous. I myself have found I’m being drawn into this. God Bless you for sharing you message!

  13. Project Inspired Member

I think the skin and hair look better in the original, but your waist and the dress look better in the second.

  14. Project Inspired Member

Hey Nicole! You are a obviously very fit and healthy woman, as evidenced by your unedited photo. Do you have any health/workout/nutrition tips/routines/advice for the PI girls? So many girls look into the mirror and see “flaws” and then resort to eating disorders in order to “fix” their already beautiful-self. :) Thanks Nicole.

    • I don’t really eat fast food ever, I don’t eat sugary things like cookies, cake, cupcakes, etc. (I don’t really have a sweet tooth!) and when I can, I do pilates. My guilty pleasures are eating foods like cheeseburgers, and buffalo wings. But stay away from the sugar, and fast food. Also, I eat a lot of lean protein like chicken and lean steak, and I eat greek salads a lot. I hope this helped you a little!

      • Project Inspired Member

Eh. I’m a vegan (and absolutely loving it!!) and that is a great way to improve your health. I recommend watching Forks Over Knives. It’s on the instant queue on netflix. Even if you can’t go completely vegan or vegetarian, meatless meals even help!! By the way: there’s tons of biblical reasons to be vegan! just google it :) love the original better nicole!

      • Project Inspired Member

ok im sorry, but how can u not eat cookies??????? r u sure there is nothing wrong with ur brain or tastebuds??????? how can someone not like sweet things???? i cant go a week without some chocalate

      • Project Inspired Member

brennareads, I’m a vegetarian myself, and I agree that less meat (or no meat) in a person’s diet really helps (not just with weight, but with other things as well). I think as long as a person gets all their vitamins/minerals/whatever else and avoids as many toxins or unhealthy things as realistically possible, then that’s a good diet.
There are passages in the Bible that say that we are allowed to eat meat — but I don’t think it’s mandatory, so we don’t HAVE to, but basically, righteousness does not end with eating and drinking (I forget which passage that is).
I became a vegetarian because of all the atrocious things that the meat/poultry/seafood industry does (and gets away with!). I think the Bible teaches us to respect animals, even the ones we eat! That’s how I feel!

      • Project Inspired Member

Forks Over Knives is SOOO good! If you think about it, God’s original plan was for us to eat fruits and nuts.

        Genesis 1:29
Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.” That’s what God told Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

He’s God, which means He knows everything, and wants the best for us, and therefore, planned the perfect cuisine for our bodies. It not only affects our bodies, but our minds as well.

There’s even proof of it in the story of Daniel.

        Daniel 1

7 The chief of staff renamed them with these Babylonian names:

        Daniel was called Belteshazzar.
        Hananiah was called Shadrach.
        Mishael was called Meshach.
        Azariah was called Abednego.

8 But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. (Mainly because that food was sacrificed to idols, which God commanded the His people not to eat.) He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods…

12 “Please test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water,” Daniel said. 13 “At the end of the ten days, see how we look compared to the other young men who are eating the king’s food. Then make your decision in light of what you see.” 14 The attendant agreed to Daniel’s suggestion and tested them for ten days.
15 At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king. 16 So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and wine provided for the others.

17 God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.

18 When the training period ordered by the king was completed, the chief of staff brought all the young men to King Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them, and no one impressed him as much as Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they entered the royal service. 20 Whenever the king consulted them in any matter requiring wisdom and balanced judgment, he found them ten times more capable than any of the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom.

This was a result of not only refusing to eat the meat and other foods that were unhealthy, but also because they were obedient to God and he BLESSED them for it!

It is true that after the flood, God gave Noah permission to eat certain “clean” meats. However, remember that this was not in his original plan and came about as a result of sin. If you think about it, after the flood, there couldn’t have been much to eat as far as “seed-bearing plants” and such because the flood destroyed it all.

I’m just finding what I can in the Bible to make its point on this issue. However, if you eat meat, it’s not a sin and I’m not looking down on you or anyone else for it. God’s guidelines are to keep us healthy and happy, not be “set in stone law that we better watch out for if we mess up.” That’s what the 10 commandments are for. It’s when we break one of those that we need to come to God and ask for His forgiveness. To keep it simple, remember that it boils down to Love. Love God, and love others.

“Is what I am doing/saying/wearing something that would honor God? Is it loving and thoughtful/respectful towards others?”

Nobody’s perfect. I’m not claiming to be either. But if we kept our minds and actions focusing on whether they’re showing love and respect to God and others, we’d all be a whole lot better off.

  15. Project Inspired Member

You look better in the original for sure.

  16. Project Inspired Member

wow that’s a big different u look so pretty in the ordinal one =)

  17. Project Inspired Member

You look so much better in the 1st pic!! You rocked that pic!!!

  20. Project Inspired Member

honestly, the second pic just makes u look like u cant breathe

  21. Project Inspired Member

Wow. Okay, last semester at school, I had a multimedia class. Part of it was using Photoshop. I loved it! But I have also now experienced firsthand the inconceivable power that Photoshop wields. I have learnedly about removing Anything from blemishes to people, camera spots to whole backgrounds. You can take a picture and completely alter it. Now, again, I loved using Photoshop and I still do (I admit, partly because my dad was the teacher), but it,s as dangerous as it is helpful. I’ve made dark pictures become lighter so they look good enough to hang on your wall. I’m taken a person from one background and placed them in front of another. Photoshop is an amazing and powerful tool– I just wish people would use it for good instead of evil.

  22. Project Inspired Member

why your picture photoshop. you are beautiful. I like the before shot!

  23. Project Inspired Member

You look so much prettier in the first one, your natural complection is gorgeous!

  25. Project Inspired Member

I just watched this movie/ documentry called killing us softly and it was amazing! Is was all about what u showed above. U look so beautiful in the first and second but espically in the first!

  26. Project Inspired Member

How did they make the waist smaller? You look most beautiful in the first picture, but I’m just curious :)

  27. Project Inspired Member

WOW , its almost like two pictures I agree you look WAY better in the first photo ! Honestly I think the second photors makes you look like you have big shoulders, and a to tiny middle, you need to look heathy !!

  28. Project Inspired Member

wow… you look much better in the first picture. They should not have changed a thing about you. You are already beautiful!

  29. Project Inspired Member

    wow tht is so stupid

  30. Project Inspired Member

Sad thing is: I used to fix my own pictures like that all the time…

  31. Project Inspired Member

Wow! there is definitely a difference! You look gorgeous in both, but I personally lie the first one better. You look natural, relaxed, and healthy. :) So pretty!

  32. Joybeth96

  34. emma4623

wow. that is juat too many changes! i think it looks great without photo shop, i also think that they want girls to try to look IMPOSSIBLY thin. we should just be who we are and be proud of it!

  35. Project Inspired Member

Nicole, you look so much better in the first one! May the Lord bless you, Nicole!

  36. Project Inspired Member

Nothing was wrong with the Before. It’s beautiful!!!

  43. Project Inspired Member

this reminds me of the music video by Johnny Diaz “more beautiful you” y’all should watch it!

  44. Kaydre

I don’t see anything wrong with the first picture!!

  45. Project Inspired Member

thats reeeely sad… she looked better before!

  46. Project Inspired Member

its really sad but my family went to get photos done and now they can do stuff like that! My grandma didn’t look the same in her picture! I hope this doesn’t spread to other photo studios. I am not going to that one anymore

  47. Project Inspired Member

that moment when I wish I looked like the first one XD

  48. Project Inspired Member

Yeah, like a lot of people commenting, I think the amount of cleavage in this picture is just inappropriate for a woman who preaches to “young girls about being modest.” Especially since you seem to take it overboard sometimes. I mean, skinny jeans and bikinis? HOW are those inappropriate, but THIS cleavage bearing shirt isn’t?

    • Project Inspired Member

I do agree with you on the cleavage part, but I’m pretty sure that this is a photo from earlier in her Hollywood carrier. They would choose the outfits for her, and this is from before her quitting that and turning to Christ for real. I’m pretty sure that is what this is and she just wants to show us how much crazy photoshoping they do to get people to look the way the world wants the “perfect body” to look like.

  49. Project Inspired Member

    I think u look beautiful either way!<3

  50. Project Inspired Member

i love you but am afraid i have to agree there is a bit too much cleavage showing.
